Our History - Senior Helpers Scottsdale

Our History - Senior Helpers Scottsdale

Senior Helpers of Scottsdale has been proudly serving our community since 2007, becoming a trusted name in personalized, compassionate in-home care for seniors. Our journey began when Scottsdale resident Shaun Phelan saw firsthand the challenges his own family faced caring for his grandfather. That experience opened his eyes to how deeply seniors benefit from individualized care—care that feels like it comes from a trusted friend, never a stranger.

Shaun’s wife, Tiffany, shared a similar calling. When her grandmother became the primary caregiver for her grandfather, who had Huntington’s Disease, Tiffany witnessed the struggle to find caregivers knowledgeable about rare and neurodegenerative conditions. Those challenges lit a fire in her to create a higher standard of skilled, compassionate home care—especially for families in Scottsdale facing complex care needs.

From the beginning, our mission has been clear: to provide dependable, affordable, and high-quality senior care in Scottsdale with caregivers who are not only well-trained, but also deeply dedicated to the people they serve. We believe in protecting the dignity, independence, and safety of our clients, while enriching their quality of life every single day.

Over the years, we have been honored to help hundreds of Scottsdale families navigate the aging journey, whether through Alzheimer’s and dementia care, companion care, personal care, or respite support. Our deep ties to the community and partnerships, including our work with the Scottsdale Fire Department, have strengthened our ability to respond quickly and effectively to local families’ needs.

From 2019 through 2025, Senior Helpers has been recognized as a Fortune Magazine Great Place to Work and a Best Place to Work in Aging Care Services—an honor that reflects our ongoing commitment to caring for seniors and supporting the amazing team that makes it possible.

Why Senior Helpers

Our Process

Our Process

The first step in the process is a complimentary, initial in-home care assessment with the guidance of our Senior Helpers LIFE ProfileTM and a highly trained Senior Helpers consultant.  This assessment can help you understand the true needs of your loved one using a 5-point data-driven assessment tool, and all your options for determining the best plan of care for your entire family.

In the initial assessment we will cover:

  • Your family's specific goals
  • Personal preferences and individualized needs of your loved one
  • Your loved one's daily plan design and schedule
  • Pricing and payment methods
  • Implementation process
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up plan

Our goal is to serve your family member by providing the highest quality compassionate personalized dependable care.

Owner & CFO, Senior Helpers of Scottsdale

Shaun Phelan is the Owner and Chief Financial Officer of Senior Helpers of Scottsdale, where he combines business expertise with a passion for helping families care for their aging loved ones. Having opened the Scottsdale office in 2007, Shaun has been deeply involved in supporting local seniors for well over a decade. His journey into senior care began when he helped his mother care for his ailing grandfather during his final days, witnessing both the love she provided and the burden it placed on her.

When Shaun learned about professional in-home senior care services, he saw an opportunity to help other Scottsdale families relieve that burden and ensure their loved ones could remain safe and comfortable at home. Today, he continues to lead with a commitment to providing personalized, compassionate care while building lasting relationships within the Scottsdale community.
