Meet the Greater Puyallup office

More than 90% of seniors want to be able to age in their own home with dignity but getting the right type of care can seem daunting.  At Senior Helpers of Greater Puyallup we believe that getting the best care for your loved ones should not be complicated.  We recognize the growing need for in-home care services, and with our passion for helping others, we are committed to delivering the best possible care to seniors in the Federal Way community.

We take the opportunity to provide care in your home seriously and make it a priority to provide the highest level of client service possible.  We have built an exceptional team of care professionals, each committed to remaining at the forefront of the in-home care industry through our proprietary ongoing training and education programs. You can feel confident that your loved one is in good hands with Senior Helpers.

Our History

Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 by Tony Bonacuse with the help of Peter Ross after their firsthand experience in caring for their respective family members. Tony and Peter identified a need that was not being filled properly by the other companies.  They realized that most seniors would prefer to age in their own home rather than move into an unfamiliar institution.  Unfortunately, the options available to most seniors were very limited.  Most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and accessible in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.

The first office opened in Baltimore, Maryland, and quickly developed a reputation for delivering excellent in-home senior care with their well-trained staff of professional caregivers. Based on the success of the Baltimore location, the company began to expand.  Over the past 20 years, the Senior Helpers family has grown to include a network of more than 300 locally owned and operated franchises across the United States.

Senior Helpers of Greater Puyallup was proud to join the system in 2023.  Like every other owner, we too are fully-committed to the original goal of providing dependable and accessible in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community.  We are lucky to serve hundreds of seniors in our community, and we are committed to continuing to provide uncompromising levels of care to all our families.

Our process

Our process

The first step in the process is a complimentary, initial in-home care assessment with a Senior Helpers consultant.  This assessment can help you understand the true needs of your loved one, and your options. Together we can discuss their needs, our senior care services and determine what’s best for your entire family.

We will cover:

  • Your family's specific goals
  • Your loved one's daily plan design and schedule
  • Pricing and payment methods
  •  Implementation process
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up plan

Meet the Greater Puyallup Team

Harman Kaur

Harman Kaur

Owner

Harman decided to open Senior Helpers of Puyallup because she noticed there was a dire need of trained and educated caregivers. She recently had to care for her grandmother who was bedridden due to a stroke. Harman struggled to find caregivers for her grandmother, however, when she did find caregivers, she noticed just how much caregivers make a difference in the lives of not only the individual, but the families as well.

Harman finds that the most exciting part of owning Senior Helper of Puyallup is that she can fulfill her passion of being able to serve the members of her community and bring little moments of joy into their lives. Senior Helpers allows her to connect with individuals and families in the Puyallup community to improve their lives. Harman is passionate about caring for others. Ever since she was a little girl, she envisioned creating a life where she would be able to serve others in whatever capacity she could. To Harman, the best life is one where she can create happiness for others.

Harman is married and has one son who is 1-year old. Her and her husband have a little homestead where they have 22 chickens, 7 ducks, 4 quails, and 1 dog. They have a huge family of 7, and there are 4 generations living together under one roof! Harman's most proud accomplishment is finishing her 3 master's degrees and starting her own business at a young age with her husband son by her side.

During her free time, she enjoys growing fresh fruits and vegetables with her little one. The majority of her evenings are dedicated towards tending to their little homestead, however on the weekends she loves to spend time exploring the beautiful state of Washington. Harman also enjoys volunteering her time with her local Sikh community in the Seattle area to raise religious and cultural awareness. She also contributes however she can to domestic abuse charities to assist victims in finding their voice.

Margie San Miguel is the Care Team and Client Services Manager at Senior Helpers of Greater Puyallup. She lives in the city of Tacoma; however, originally, she came from the island of Guam thirteen years ago to further her career in the nursing field. She always loved working with seniors since she was younger. Growing up in a traditional family helped her to learn from her elders on how to enjoy the little moments of life. She also enjoyed listening to their life stories, which brought joy to all the moments that she has experienced so far. She has worked as a caregiver, eventually moving up to a lead caregiver. From lead caregiver she has grown in her career into care team management, while also managing recruiting in her previous experience. She enjoys working with seniors, and helping the staff within the company to grow to their full potential. Ashlee Lowe

Office Manager

Ashlee discovered a true passion for the senior population during her time as a CNA. She loves hearing their stories and seeing photos from their younger days. It was during this time that she decided she wanted to make a real difference in the lives of all seniors and not just the ones she was caring for. Ashlee was born and raised in Oregon, she and her family moved to North Carolina, where she pursued her Bachelors in Health Care Administration with a dream of owning her own nursing home. She moved back to the Pacific Northwest when her husband got stationed at Fort Lewis. In her free time, she loves to knit, cook, bake, read and spend time with her husband, 9-year-old daughter, her dog Charlie and her beloved cat Andrew. Ashlee is passionate about caring for others and can’t wait to make a difference. Ashlee looks forwards to connecting with clients and the community to bring light and compassion into the lives of others.

I want to take this opportunity to express our thanks for the superb work Diane did for Dad while he was in the hospital. She was punctual, personable, and dedicated. She helped my Dad immensely during a difficult time for him. Her calm manner and brilliant smile worked magic. My Dad’s attitude changed completely for the better after her first visit. Thank you so much for giving us Diane. She really is a remarkable person and very caring.
