Senior Helpers Published in Journal of Gerontological Nursing

Senior Helpers is proud to share that our own David Chandler, MBA, BSN, RN, Vice President of Clinical Services and Business Development, and Christina Chartrand, Senior Vice President of Training & Development, were featured as authors in the peer-reviewed article, “Bringing the 4Ms Home: Elevating the Role of Nonmedical Home Care in Age-Friendly Health Systems,” published in the Journal of Gerontological Nursing alongside fellow authors Teresa Harbour, MBA, MHA, RN, and Khai Nguyen, MD, MHS.

The article explores how private duty nurses and professional caregivers providing nonmedical home care are a critical—but often underrecognized—part of Age-Friendly Health Systems. While hospitals and clinical settings increasingly use the 4Ms Framework—What Matters, Medication, Mentation, and Mobility—the authors explain that these same principles must also extend into the home, where older adults most often want to remain.

Using more than 11,000 Senior Helpers assessments completed in 2024, the article found measurable improvements in key areas of independence and daily living, including laundry (74%), groceries (71%), bathing and dressing (67%), hydration (67%), mobility (54%), and managing medical conditions (40%). These findings reinforce how age-friendly care at home improves quality of life, supports safer transitions, and helps reduce avoidable hospitalizations.

The article also highlights the role of the Senior Helpers LIFE Profile®, our exclusive assessment that combines technology with compassionate care to help families better understand their loved one’s care needs and create a more accurate, thorough, and personalized care plan.

This recognition reflects Senior Helpers’ continued leadership in advancing innovative, compassionate care and strengthening the connection between clinical excellence and in-home support.

We’re proud to see David and Christina helping shape important conversations around the future of aging care.
