Options To Pay For Home Care

Making the decision to choose in-home care can seem overwhelming at times. But don’t panic—our professional senior care experts will help guide you through the process to ensure compassionate care and comfort at a moment’s notice for your loved one.

One of the most common concerns for families is affordability and payment options. Are home care services covered by Medicare or health insurance? Are there any benefits to help Veterans pay for home care? Can life insurance help? Can we use home equity to help pay for the care?

Every day, Senior Helpers works with families just like yours that are starting to learn about the benefits of in-home care. As trusted experts in senior care, we can help you and your loved ones navigate the often-complicated maze of senior care options. We strive to provide you with straightforward answers to assist you in making the most informed decisions.

When considering payment terms for in home care services, Senior Helpers’ goal is to provide information on supplemental funding sources that our clients could potentially be eligible for to help cover their home care needs. Below are alternate funding sources that are available through our office. For more information or any questions about the individual funding sources below, please feel free to consult with our Client Services team.

Private Pay

Your loved one may have savings or supplementary income available that can help pay for home care, assisted living, or nursing home care. Often, family members may contribute to the cost of care for their loved one.

Veteran’s Aid & Attendance Pension Benefit

The services of Home Health Aide and Respite can help veterans remain living in their own home and can serve veterans of any age. This program provides veterans with personal care services and assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. It also supports primary caregivers by offering respite care when they need a break. Senior Helpers of Lancaster is a VA Medical Center Approved Provider

Aid & Attendance

The Aid & Attendance Pension is a monthly, tax-free monetary payment to veterans who served during a period of war and can be used to pay for home care services. It is also available for their single surviving spouses and/or dependent children. The pension is means tested with an income and an asset test.

Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage plans, also known as Medicare Part C, are offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare as an alternative to traditional Medicare (Parts A and B). These plans provide the same coverage as Original Medicare and may also include additional benefits, such as non-skilled in-home care. Since they are sold through independent insurance companies rather than delivered directly by the federal government, the specific benefits and coverage details can vary by plan and by insurer

Long Term Care (LTC) Insurance

Many long-term care insurance policies include coverage for in-home care services, which allows policyholders to receive care in the comfort of their own homes. This type of care can span a wide range of services, and individual policies may vary.

CMS Guide Program

Through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Model, eligible beneficiaries may receive Medicare-covered respite hours each year for eligible families. This service is designed to provide caregiver relief while supporting individuals living with dementia.

Additional State and Local Programs
