For Eligible Veterans: Care & Support at Home May Be a Phone Call Away

Access to Home Care and Other Support Services

Access to Home Care and Other Support Services

For over a decade our holistic caregiving and home care support has touched hundreds of seniors in more than 75 Metro-Boston and South Shore communities. We help elders age successfully in place; treasuring each individual journey with dignity and respect.

In the Fall of 2019 we signed a veterans care agreement with the Veterans Administration so we could provide personal care and helping hand support are available to eligible veterans in all the towns and communities we serve -- enabling all enrolled Veterans who meet the clinical need for service, to receive  "care and comfort" when they need it most.

Putting Together a Plan that Works

The VA Social Worker determines the scope of specific help each Veteran is able to receive. This initial "conversation about care" is an important one, and will establish the basic framework for the care plan.

Our suite of care includes a range of personal support for needs like bathing, dressing, making meals and taking medications. We can provide a helping hand with everyday activities like transportation and bill paying, or support for family caregivers who may need a break so they can work, travel, or run errands.

In addition to a suite of traditional services, we provide specialized care and support for Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's, and other complex diagnoses, for which our skilled caregivers are specifically trained.

Setting Up Services is Made Easy & Simple

Setting Up Services is Made Easy & Simple

Working with the VA, we have tried to keep the process for getting help at home as simple as possible.

Step ONE: As a Veteran you need to call your Primary Care Doctor at the VA and request an order for Homemaker and Home Health Aide Services. Let them know you would like to use Senior Helpers as your "Agency".

If you don't know your doctor's number, please call: 617.210.5480.

Step TWO: Ask your Case Manager at the VA to assign your care to our Agency.

We'll take it from there.

Why Veterans Matter

By Mark Friedman, Owner.

As Owner of Senior Helpers Boston and South Shore I get to make a lot of decisions about how I want to run my Agency.

Setting up a program that would benefit Veterans and give them easy access to care at home is one of the easiest I've put in motion in recent memory. Veterans are an integral part of our communities today. So are our caregivers, and so are we as a company.

As our Veterans age in our communities it is more important than ever that we advocate for their journeys. We must keep them safe and secure while at the same time empowering their independence and encouraging their engagement in life to the fullest of their abilities.

If my company and my caregivers, companions and home health aides can contribute to these intentions, I'm all in.
