Meet the Northwest Indiana Office

More than 90% of seniors want to age in their own home with dignity but getting the right type of care can seem daunting. At Senior Helpers of Northwest Indiana we believe getting the best care for your loved ones should not be complicated. Mike Stuckert opened the Senior Helpers Crown Point office in 2008 because of his passion for helping others and his interest in the growing need for in-home care services. Mike is committed to delivering the best possible in-home care to seniors in the Northwest Indiana community.

We take in-home care very seriously and make it a priority to provide the highest level of client service possible. Over the past 10 years we have built an exceptional team of care professionals, each committed to remaining at the forefront of the in-home care industry through our proprietary ongoing training and education programs.

Our History

Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 by Tony Bonacuse with the help of Peter Ross after their firsthand experience in caring for their respective family members. Tony and Peter identified a need that was not being filled properly by the other companies. They realized that most seniors would prefer to age in their own home rather than move into an unfamiliar institution. Unfortunately, the options available to most seniors were very limited. Most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and affordable in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.

The first office opened in Baltimore, and quickly developed a reputation for delivering excellent in-home senior care with their well-trained staff of professional caregivers. Based on the success of the Baltimore location, the company began to expand. Over the past 13 years, the Senior Helpers family has grown to include a network of more than 300 locally owned and operated franchises across the United States.

Senior Helpers of Northwest Indiana was proud to join the system in 2008. Like every other owner, we too are fully-committed to the original goal of providing dependable and affordable in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community.

We were founded to meet the needs of the ones we love. Mike Stuckert, a native of NW Indiana, was looking for a way for his mother to receive quality care while staying in her own home. When he didn’t find any good answers, he created his own solution by opening Senior Helpers in 2008.

Mike understands the stress of having to provide care for a loved one and the toll it can take on families. Watching his mother go from a healthy and independent woman to needing help with everyday activities led Mike to put his heart and soul into providing outstanding in-home care. His desire to make a profound difference is the driving force for each and every one of the families we serve.

Having taken care of more than 700 families in over 12 years, our team has grown, thanks to the wonderful referrals we receive from our community partners. We do everything we can to ensure our clients and caregivers are treated like our extended family.

Our process

Our process

The first step in the process is a complimentary, initial in-home care assessment with a Senior Helpers consultant. This assessment can help you understand the true needs of your loved one, and your options. Together we can discuss their needs, our senior care services and determine what’s best for your entire family.

We will cover:

  • Your family's specific goals
  • Your loved one's daily plan design and schedule
  • Pricing and payment methods
  •  Implementation process
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up plan

Mike Stuckert

Mike Stuckert

Owner/CEO

At his core, Mike cares about taking care of seniors and their families. A native of Highland, Indiana, Mike is the epitome of the local boy who achieved a lot and returned home to use those gifts to serve his community. After being named Times Athlete of the Year in the Region, Mike received his BA from Cornell University and his MBA from Arizona State University.

Prior to founding Senior Helpers, Mike worked as a management consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers and a Logistics expert for multiple public companies.  His focus on both service and efficiency has allowed him to create the best care for families while meeting the needs of the caregivers.

Mike’s pride and joy are his two sons, Cal and Hutch. When he’s not coaching them on the soccer field, they are cheering for their beloved Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks, and Bulls. Mike loves to travel and enjoys just about anything outdoors from camping, fishing and kayaking to barbequing and taking long nature walks with BB the Basset Hound.

Megan Lynch

Megan Lynch

Care Manager

Megan believes deeply in assuring that every client is treated like family. A native of Lowell and Crown Point, Indiana, Megan has been with Senior Helpers for over 7 years. She sees to it that every client has an updated and customized plan of care. After graduating from Ball Sate with a degree in Family Studies, Megan served as the Activities Director for an adult daycare in Georgia. Her desire to return home and do meaningful work for those in her community led her back to NW Indiana. Megan interviews all of our caregivers and leads regular caregiver trainings to ensure that our clients get the benefit of working with well-trained caregivers with the most up-to-date expertise.

Megan loves antique shopping, wine tasting, trying out new recipes she finds on Pinterest and spending time with her family, friends, and beloved cat Ann.

Sara Baum

Sara Baum

Scheduling Coordinator

Sara’s passion for taking care of people has led to two decades of being a hands-on caregiver. Her roles included being a CNA and QMA in hospitals and nursing homes. Sara has been with Senior Helpers since 2010 and after nine years as a caregiver for us she wanted to extend her reach by managing and motivating the caregivers on our team, so she moved into a new role as our Scheduling Coordinator and Trainer. She attended In Training Collage and has held licenses as a CNA and QMA. She has also been certified in dementia training.

Sara enjoys shopping, performing with her rock band, spending time with family and friends, and her blind and deaf Boston Lily.

Caregiver of the Month
March 2024

Caregiver of the Month

We’re pleased to announce MADISON as our Caregiver of the Month for March 2024!

Congratulations, Madison!

Madison has been nominated for several reasons: she has great attendance, arrives to work on time, has a great work ethic, and a great attitude. She has a fun personality and always takes care of her clients the way they should be!

One example, despite having a 45-minute commute, Madison was willing to pick up shifts (even when last minute) without hesitation. This means many clients didn’t have to go without help. She is a true team player!

Madison says she enjoys giving her clients the quality care they deserve–and having fun while doing it! She also appreciates knowing that whatever comes up she’ll have the full support of her administrative staff.

We are sad to say this April will be Madison’s last month with us as she is moving on to new adventures. We will miss you and all your hard work! We were so happy to have you on our team–your clients and their families were too!
