Better Medicare Alliance Responds to 2024 Medicare Advantage Rate Announcement

With Contributions from John Skelton of Senior Helpers of Tempe

WASHINGTON – Better Medicare Alliance, the nation’s leading research and advocacy organization supporting Medicare Advantage, today released the following statement in response to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) 2024 Medicare Advantage Rate Announcement:

“Better Medicare Alliance will continue to analyze the impact of the final rate announcement, especially on low-income beneficiaries, dual-eligible enrollees, and vulnerable populations. We appreciate that CMS moved to a phased-in approach, but the underlying policy is fundamentally unchanged. We remain concerned about the unintended consequences for seniors of this risk adjustment policy,” said Mary Beth Donahue, president and CEO of Better Medicare Alliance. “More than 31 million seniors and people with disabilities choose Medicare Advantage for the high quality, affordable care it provides. BMA and the more than 200 stakeholders in our alliance will continue to work with Congress and CMS to strengthen this vital program for the future and deliver value for American seniors and taxpayers.”
