Veteran-Owned Senior Helpers of Lake Country Honors U.S. Army's 251st Birthday with RED Friday Tribute

OCONOMOWOC, Wis. — June 2026 — In recognition of the United States Army's 251st Birthday and in support of military service members currently serving around the world, the team at Senior Helpers of Lake Country proudly wore RED (Remember Everyone Deployed) shirts as part of a special tribute to those serving away from home.

The event was led by Senior Helpers of Lake Country Owner and President Sara Atwood, a retired U.S. Army Military Police Corps Sergeant First Class with more than 21 years of military service, including deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.

"RED Fridays are a simple but powerful way to show support for the men and women currently deployed around the world," said Atwood. "As veterans, military families, and community members, we understand the sacrifices that service members and their loved ones make every day. Wearing red is our reminder that they are not forgotten."

Team members gathered outside the Senior Helpers of Lake Country office wearing RED shirts emblazoned with the message 'Remember Everyone Deployed Until They All Come Home.' The display served as a visible expression of gratitude and support for active-duty military personnel and their families.

As a veteran-owned and woman-owned business, Senior Helpers of Lake Country remains committed to serving both seniors and veterans throughout the Lake Country area. The company proudly supports programs that help older adults age safely and independently at home while maintaining strong ties to the military and veteran communities.

The U.S. Army celebrates its birthday each year on June 14, commemorating the establishment of the Continental Army in 1775. This year's 251st birthday marks more than two and a half centuries of Army service to the nation.

"Many of our clients, caregivers, and families have military connections," Atwood added. "Honoring our nation's service members is part of who we are. We are grateful for those currently serving and for the families who stand beside them."

Senior Helpers of Lake Country provides personalized in-home senior care services throughout Lake Country and surrounding communities, including companion care, personal care, Alzheimer's and dementia care, Parkinson's care, transitional care, and veteran-focused support services.
