Rejuvenating the Aging Brain – Badger Talk by Betsy Quinlan, Professor and Chair of the Department of Neuroscience at the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health Sponsored by the Brain Health Group
Holz Pavilion Theater, Monday, May 25, 1-2PM
Our brains excel at detecting novelty, and this skill is important for learning, perception and decision-making. This talk will present new research and ideas on how maintaining an enriched environment improves the quality of life and cognitive function with age. Novelty enhances brain health by stimulating neuroplasticity, increasing dopamine, and improving memory retention. Varied experiences and learning new skills are linked to increased brain activity, higher happiness levels, and a younger "brain age.”
