Caring for Veterans

Veterans who served our country deserve to age in comfort and care. According to U.S. News & World Report, 2021 Census data revealed there are around 16.5 million Veterans living in America. This accounts for about 6.4% of the nation’s adult population. Texas currently has one of the largest Veteran populations in the country. The VA offers a pension that can help offset the cost of care. Unfortunately, many Veterans and their families do not know that they qualify. These benefits allow many Veterans to age in the comfort of their own home with care and dignity.

There are many advantages to having a caregiver lend a helping hand. This can be as little as weekly check-ins to as much as 24-hour care. Activities of daily living (ADLs) includes personal hygiene, dressing, eating, walking, and transferring. These basic tasks are essential in our everyday lives. Instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) include housekeeping, phone calls, transportation, shopping, and more. Veterans may need help with some of these tasks as they age or develop a disease such as a form of dementia. Companionship provided by a caregiver maintains social connection and mental well-being. This care empowers Veterans to maintain their quality of life and independence. A caregiver may also assist in preventing falls and accidents by avoiding risks or hazards such as transfers or tripping.

As an authorized VA provider, Senior Helpers Texas Hill Country understands the needs of our Veterans. We know that Veterans have the right to choose who they use for in-home care. It is an absolute privilege to serve the brave men and women who answered our nation’s call.
