Meet the Smithtown Office

More than 90% of seniors want to age in their own home with dignity but getting the right type of care can seem daunting. At Senior Helpers of Smithtown we believe that getting the best care for your loved ones should not be complicated. Glen and Gayle opened the Senior Helpers of Smithtown office in 2008 because of their passion for helping others and their interest in the growing need for in-home care services. Glen and Gayle are committed to delivering the best possible in-home care to seniors in the Long Island community.

We take in-home care seriously and make it a priority to provide the highest level of client service possible. Over the past 14 years we have built an exceptional team of care professionals, each committed to remaining at the forefront of the in-home care industry through our proprietary ongoing training and education programs.

Our History

Our History

Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 by Tony Bonacuse with the help of Peter Ross after their firsthand experience in caring for their respective family members. Tony and Peter identified a need that was not being filled properly by the other companies. They realized most seniors would prefer to age in their own home rather than move into an unfamiliar institution. Unfortunately, the options available to most seniors were very limited. Most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and affordable in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.

The first office opened in Baltimore and quickly developed a reputation for delivering excellent in-home senior care with their well-trained staff of professional caregivers. Based on the success of the Baltimore location, the company began to expand. Over the past 14 years, the Senior Helpers family has grown to include a network of more than 300 locally owned and operated franchises across the United States.

Senior Helpers of Smithtown was proud to join the system in 2008. Like every other owner, we too are fully committed to the original goal of providing dependable and affordable in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community.

We have been lucky to serve hundreds of seniors in our community over the years, and we are committed to continuing to provide uncompromising levels of care to all our families.

Our process

Our process

The first step in the process is a complimentary, initial in-home care assessment with a Senior Helpers consultant. This assessment can help you understand the true needs of your loved one and your options. Together we can discuss their needs, review our senior care services and determine what’s best for your entire family.

We will cover:

  • Your family's specific goals
  • Your loved one's daily plan design and schedule
  • Pricing and payment methods
  •  Implementation process
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up plan

Owners

Senior Helpers is a Companion Care Agency that is owned and operated by Gayle and Glen Lindroth. Gayle and Glen have been serving seniors in their homes and at facilities for 14 years. Senior Helpers caregivers help with light housekeeping, laundry, meal planning, medicine reminders, transportation and so much more. Not only are we there to provide the best care possible in the home, but also in hospitals and at assisted living facilities. We are there to be the best companions for our clients. Our caregiver will escort clients into his/her car, to the doctor’s office, hospital, grocery store or wherever they need to go. She will wait and drive him/her safely back.

All of our caregivers treasure the personal satisfaction which comes from helping others. After a thorough screening, we train, bond, insure and hire only the most professional and compassionate caregivers.

Pat is a respite client of ours. She called and reached our answering service in the middle of the night. Gayle and Glen called her back immediately. Pat wasn’t a client at the time, but needed an ambulance to take her to the hospital and didn’t want to leave her dog alone – Glen rushed to her home, arrived before the ambulance, made arrangements for Pat’s Yorkie, and a few days later made arrangements for our caregiver to drive her back to the hospital for back surgery. This happened five years ago and Pat is still with us for the respite help that she needs.

Another example of a satisfied client is Rose, whose caregiver, Patti came to her house to help four times a week. Rose’s two sons lived out of state. Patti came into Rose’s house and found her lying on the floor. Rose was conscious but couldn’t get up. Patti called for an ambulance and stayed in the hospital with Rose for hours providing compassion and comfort until her son arrived from Connecticut.

We at Senior Helpers are pleased and proud to be given the opportunity to offer our services to help meet the needs of the senior residents of Long Island.
