The Center of Excellence is a training space designed as a realistic simulation of a client’s home. Training occurring here helps caregivers identify hazardous items, learn more about the safety of a client’s home, and demonstrate the proper use of durable medical equipment (DME), so caregivers can better assist with mobility, transfers, bathing, and toileting assistance.
This unique and innovative space is designed to support interactive training and education opportunities for our caregivers, family caregivers, and industry professionals. The center is located within our Senior Helpers office, with a focus on the highest risks areas, such as the bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen.
Welcome to the Senior Helpers Center of Excellence in Maplewood, Missouri
The Senior Helpers Center of Excellence is designed as a small apartment, complete with a living room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. This realistic setting allows us to provide practical, hands-on training that prepares caregivers for the situations they will encounter in clients’ homes every day.
The space allows us to elevate the skills and knowledge of our caregivers while also serving as a learning environment for family caregivers and community members who support older adults. By practicing real-life scenarios in a safe environment, caregivers gain confidence, improve problem-solving skills, and learn to provide safer, more effective care.
At Senior Helpers, we place a strong emphasis on caregiver education and professional development because we believe that well-trained caregivers provide better outcomes, greater safety, and improved quality of life for the seniors we serve.
