Meet the Fort Wayne office

More than 90% of seniors want to age in their own home with dignity but getting the right type of care can seem daunting. At Senior Helpers of Fort Wayne we believe  getting the best care for your loved ones should not be complicated. BHI Home Care, Inc. opened the Senior Helpers of Fort Wayne office in 2016 because of their passion for helping others and their interest in the growing need for in-home care services. BHI Home Care, Inc. is committed to delivering the best possible in-home care to seniors in the Fort Wayne community.

We take in-home care very seriously and make it a priority to provide the highest level of client service possible. Over the past 3 years we have built an exceptional team of care professionals, each committed to remaining at the forefront of the in-home care industry through our proprietary ongoing training and education programs.

Our History

Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 by Tony Bonacuse with the help of Peter Ross after their firsthand experience in caring for their respective family members. Tony and Peter identified a need that was not being filled properly by the other companies. They realized that most seniors would prefer to age in their own home rather than move into an unfamiliar institution. Unfortunately, the options available to most seniors were very limited.  Most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and affordable in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.

The first office opened in Baltimore, and quickly developed a reputation for delivering excellent in-home senior care with their well-trained staff of professional caregivers. Based on the success of the Baltimore location, the company began to expand. Over the past 13 years, the Senior Helpers family has grown to include a network of more than 300 locally owned and operated franchises across the United States.

Senior Helpers of Fort Wayne was proud to join the system. Like every other owner, we too are fully-committed to the original goal of providing dependable and affordable in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community.

We have been lucky to serve hundreds of seniors in our community over the years, and we are committed to continuing to provide uncompromising levels of care to all our families.

Our process

The first step in the process is a complimentary, initial in-home care assessment with a Senior Helpers consultant. This assessment can help you understand the true needs of your loved one, and your options. Together we can discuss their needs, our senior care services and determine what’s best for your entire family.

We will cover:

  • Your family's specific goals
  • Your loved one's daily plan design and schedule
  • Pricing and payment methods
  •  Implementation process
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up plan

Meet the Fort Wayne Team

Brenda Jordan

Director of Operations

Brenda Jordan moved to Indiana in 2007 after many relocations around the country during her father’s Army career. She graduated from Columbia City High School with her honors diploma and now resides in Fort Wayne. Brenda studied Public Policy and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Administration at Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Public Management at IPFW. Recently Brenda completed an internship at The Towne House Retirement Community in Fort Wayne. While at Towne House, Brenda had the opportunity to work in every department and gained hands on knowledge of independent living to skilled care as she worked with the residents at every need level.

Brenda’s position as Director of Operations at Senior Helpers Fort Wayne suits her well. She has a passion for bringing assistance to those in need by making sure each client is served with excellence in their homes. Not only does Brenda have experience with the veteran community but she is also a mother of a child that is 100% disabled and understands what it is like to need assistance in the home on a personal level.

Brenda enjoys spending time with her family and serves at the local Community Harvest Food Bank in Fort Wayne as well as her place of worship at Pathway Community Church also located in Fort Wayne. She is happiest when she knows she has assisted others in the community and that’s why her work at Senior Helpers is top notch.

Dorian Fanning

Client Manager and Marketing

Dorian is a Fort Wayne native. Her passion for the senior community started and grew tremendously over the six years she worked at a local retirement home. Interacting with the residents and helping them, even with their smallest needs, gave her the drive to continue to serve our local senior community. She knew she wanted to be in healthcare to impact her community. She graduated from Indiana University Fort Wayne with a Bachelors in Healthcare Administration and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration.

Dorian’s Senior Helpers journey started in 2017 as a Caregiver. Knowing what it takes to be an exceptional Caregiver has given her a unique advantage as our Caregiver Manager. This experience allows her to continue hiring the exceptional caregivers our clients deserve. Dorian also handles office financials including thorough review and final processing of billing and payroll.

Whitney Kanjala - Caregiver Manager and Scheduler

Whitney Kanjala, a Fort Wayne native has been serving her community for the past six years as a direct support professional. Throughout her journey within the community she received her Bachelors of Science in Health Administration with a minor in Communications from Purdue-University Fort Wayne. Although Whitney started off thinking nursing was the career for her it was not until her work as a DSP changed her mind and helped her realize her passion for helping others could be utilized differently. The experience she gained as a care provider in her six years of community health services made her the perfect match for Caregiver Manager as well as Human Resources. Administratively she is an asset because she has the knowledge, capability, and vison to provide exceptional service not only clients, but caregivers as well. Whitney believes that with age comes respect and it is our due diligence to serve those in our community who have helped contribute to Fort Wayne in their lifetime.
