It’s Personal!
As we age our lives change and as this occurs, we realize more and more each day that we need the support of others to maintain our health and independence. I started learning this lesson in 2014 when I was diagnosed with a bacterium that caused stomach cancer and I was in a fight against this bug to save my life. While the Doctors had the best intent to eradicate this alien from my system, the methods they tried put my immune system at great risk. My kidneys were failing, my liver impacted, and I grew weaker and weaker each day. As a result, I couldn’t work for six months and my family and friends had to pitch in to help me with day to day activities.
I know firsthand the struggles of asking for help and what it’s like to feel vulnerable & overwhelmed with something you seem to have no control of. But getting some help made all the difference! It gave my family peace of mind and helped me to release some things I no longer needed to worry about and focus on my healing.
