Keeping Seniors Safe

Keeping Seniors Safe

When you can't be with your aging loved ones, a professional caregiver can be crucial in supporting their safety, comfort, and wellness during the summer months. Utilizing home care services helps seniors stay cool and comfortable in warmer months and climates, which may help reduce the risks associated with high temperatures. Professional home care services can assist with daily activities and help your loved one maintain their independence in their home. If your loved one is a Veteran or surviving spouse, they may be eligible for a benefit that may help pay for home care assistance. Call us today to find out more.

As we age, we need to be more mindful of our choices regarding our health. For seniors who require fewer calories but nutrient-rich foods, making the right nutritional choices can significantly affect their quality of life. Home care is an excellent way to help older adults maintain a healthy diet. By assisting in choosing the right nutrients and preparing healthy meals, caregivers can ensure seniors get the nutrition they need to stay healthy and active. With home care support, seniors can enjoy a nutritious and satisfying diet, which can help them lead a more fulfilling lifestyle. Remember Central VA s most prone time to be affected by hurricanes is coming soon. Mid- Sept s often when central VA is affected by torrential rain, flooding , high winds and even tornadoes from a hurricane. Here are two simple ways to make life simpler if think you may lose power

Put frequently used perishable items in your washing machine, with plenty of ice (think several bags of ice from the grocery store)  around it. The washer will hold the cold temperature longer and the melted ice will drain from your machine.

Flashlights are great but may offer limited lighting if your power is out and it is dark inside. Place a small flashlight upright and lower a clean, empty milk jug over it. The light will magnify and light up your room. You can also cut a larger opening in the milk jug to accommodate a larger flashlight. You can Google this ahead of time to visualize the process
