April Community Recap: Supporting Awareness, Education, and Local Connections

April was another meaningful month for Senior Helpers of Waxhaw–Monroe as we continued our commitment to supporting seniors, caregivers, and families across Union, Cabarrus, Rowan, and Stanly counties.

From raising awareness to connecting with future caregivers, our team stayed actively involved in initiatives that support both the community and the individuals we serve every day.

Parkinson’s Walk – Charlotte

Feeling inspired by the incredible energy this morning at the Move It Walk for Parkinson’s at Symphony Park in Charlotte!

We were proud to participate in the Parkinson’s Walk, an event dedicated to raising awareness and supporting individuals and families affected by Parkinson’s disease.

It was inspiring to see so many people come together for a shared cause — showing strength, support, and community. Our team connected with families, caregivers, and local organizations, reinforcing our commitment to providing specialized support for those living with Parkinson’s.

Dementia Pointer Study: Supporting Awareness and Education

This month, we also supported efforts around dementia awareness through participation in the Dementia Pointer Study.

Dementia continues to impact many families across our communities, and initiatives like this help bring attention to the importance of early recognition, education, and ongoing support. We aim to help families better understand memory-related conditions while promoting resources that support safety and independence.

Monroe Job Fair: Connecting with Future Caregivers

Senior Helpers of Waxhaw–Monroe also participated in a local job fair in Monroe, where we had the opportunity to meet individuals interested in making a difference as caregivers.

We spoke with many passionate candidates who are looking to build meaningful careers supporting seniors in our community. Events like this help strengthen the care we provide by connecting with individuals who share our values of compassion and dedication.

Strengthening Our Community Through Connection

Each of these events plays an important role in supporting the community:

- Raising awareness for conditions like Parkinson’s and dementia
- Connecting families with helpful information and resources
- Building a strong, compassionate caregiver workforce

Together, these efforts help ensure that seniors across Union, Cabarrus, Rowan, and Stanly counties continue to receive the care and support they deserve.

Looking Ahead

We are grateful for the opportunity to stay involved in such meaningful initiatives and appreciate everyone who took part in these events.

Senior Helpers of Waxhaw–Monroe looks forward to continuing to support seniors and families through education, community engagement, and personalized care throughout the region.
