Our History

Our History

Senior Helpers of Northeast Broward County is locally owned and operated by Juan Mejia and Paola Correa. As passionate advocates for quality senior care, they are proud to lead a dedicated team of caregivers and office staff committed to improving the lives of older adults through compassionate, high-quality support in the comfort of home.

Juan and Paola bring deeply personal experience to their work. Juan has spent years caring for his aging parents, staying closely involved in their day-to-day well-being. Paola grew up surrounded by her grandparents, whose strength, warmth, and wisdom inspired a deep respect for aging and a lifelong commitment to honoring and supporting older adults. These values are the foundation of their shared mission: to provide dependable, personalized in-home care services that empower seniors to age with dignity.

Through their own caregiving experiences, Juan and Paola saw firsthand the emotional and practical challenges families face. They recognized that many families in their community were searching for trusted, compassionate caregivers—people who would treat their loved ones with the same care and respect they give their own family. This realization led to the creation of Senior Helpers of Northeast Broward County, a mission-driven agency designed to fill that need.

Their agency operates on a foundation of servant leadership, where the needs of clients and caregivers come first. Juan and Paola personally meet and carefully vet every caregiver candidate, conducting thorough background checks and ensuring alignment with the organization’s core values of empathy, integrity, and professionalism. Caregivers receive ongoing training to continually enhance their skills and ensure the highest standards of care.

At Senior Helpers of Northeast Broward County, every client is treated like family. From companionship and personal care to more comprehensive support, care plans are tailored to each individual's needs—helping seniors maintain independence and providing families with peace of mind.

Juan and Paola are actively involved in the day-to-day operations and remain available to clients 24/7. They understand what it’s like to walk in the shoes of a family caregiver and are committed to being a steady, compassionate partner through every step of the journey.

For them, this work is personal. With the help of their loyal family dog Mambo—who ensures that clients' pets also feel loved—Juan and Paola have built a home care agency rooted in heart, trust, and purpose.

Every day is a chance to make a difference. Through Senior Helpers, they are proud to help seniors live life on their own terms, while creating a positive, respectful environment for the caregivers who serve them.

Our process

Our process

The first step in the process is a complimentary, initial in-home care assessment with a Senior Helpers consultant.  This assessment can help you understand the true needs of your loved one, and your options. Together we can discuss their needs, our senior care services and determine what’s best for your entire family.

We will cover:

  • Your family's specific goals
  • Your loved one's daily plan design and schedule
  • Pricing and payment methods
  •  Implementation process
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up plan

Juan Mejia and Paola Correa established Senior Helpers of Northeast Broward County based on their profound connection with older adults. Their empathy for seniors and strong desire to improve their quality of life have always driven them. This commitment deepened significantly after a decade of caring for their parents and Paola's grandparents, who battled Alzheimer's disease. This firsthand experience underscored the importance of delivering the right care in the comfort of one's home.

For Juan and Paola, Senior Helpers is more than a business—it's a personal calling. It allows them to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors in their community, aligning with their deepest values and reinforcing their dedication to compassionate senior care.

What excites them most about their Senior Helpers business is the opportunity to bring purpose and meaning to seniors' lives. By providing compassionate, personalized care at home, they empower seniors to maintain independence and dignity while giving their loved ones peace of mind.

Juan and Paola are married and are also business partners. Together, they decided to make this dream a reality and dedicate themselves to making a positive impact on the lives of seniors. They have a dog named Mambo, who is part of their family and will be in charge of ensuring that their clients' pets are also cared for with love because pets are an essential part of their owners' lives!

As a family, they enjoy spending time with loved ones and friends, soaking up the sun at the beach, cooking, engaging in sports, and exploring new places.

I want to take this opportunity to express our thanks for the superb work Diane did for Dad while he was in the hospital. She was punctual, personable, and dedicated. She helped my Dad immensely during a difficult time for him. Her calm manner and brilliant smile worked magic. My Dad’s attitude changed completely for the better after her first visit. Thank you so much for giving us Diane. She really is a remarkable person and very caring.
