Meet the Central Phoenix office

At Senior Helpers of Central Phoenix, we believe every senior deserves the opportunity to age with dignity, independence, and the comfort of remaining in their own home whenever possible. We also understand that caring for an aging loved one can be both rewarding and challenging. Families are often balancing careers, children, and other responsibilities while trying to ensure their loved ones receive the attention and support they need.

Our mission is to provide dependable, personalized home care that gives seniors the confidence to continue living safely at home while giving their families peace of mind. We know that inviting a caregiver into your home is a significant decision, and we are committed to earning your trust through professionalism, compassion, and open communication.

As a locally owned business, we are proud to serve seniors and families throughout Central Phoenix. Our caregivers and office team are committed to treating every client with kindness, respect, and the personalized attention they deserve.

Our History

Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 by Tony Bonacuse with the help of Peter Ross after their firsthand experience in caring for their respective family members. Tony and Peter identified a need that was not being filled properly by the other companies.  They realized that most seniors would prefer to age in their own home rather than move into an unfamiliar institution.  Unfortunately, the options available to most seniors were very limited.  Most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and accessible in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.

The first office opened in Baltimore, Maryland, and quickly developed a reputation for delivering excellent in-home senior care with their well-trained staff of professional caregivers. Based on the success of the Baltimore location, the company began to expand.  For more than 20 years, the Senior Helpers family has grown to include a network of more than 300 locally owned and operated franchises across the United States.

Senior Helpers of Central Phoenix was proud to join the system in 2026.  Like every other owner, we too are fully-committed to the original goal of providing dependable and accessible in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community.  We are lucky to serve hundreds of seniors in our community, and we are committed to continuing to provide uncompromising levels of care to all our families.

Senior Helpers of Central Phoenix is locally owned and operated by Nichole and Enyinaya Okafor.

As we prepared to open Senior Helpers of Central Phoenix, we spent time learning about the needs of seniors and their families throughout our community. One message was consistent. Families were looking for a care provider they could trust. They wanted caregivers who would treat their loved ones with the same patience, dignity, and respect they would expect from their own family.

That became our vision for Senior Helpers of Central Phoenix.

We are building a team that puts people first. Our goal is not simply to provide care, but to build lasting relationships with the families we serve. We understand that every client's needs are different, which is why we take the time to listen, learn, and develop personalized care plans that support each person's lifestyle, preferences, and goals.

Just as we are committed to our clients, we are equally committed to our caregivers. We believe that when caregivers feel respected, supported, and equipped with the right training, they are able to provide outstanding care. Every caregiver is carefully screened, completes comprehensive training, and receives ongoing education to help them continue growing professionally.

Our process

Our process

Every family has a unique story, which is why every care plan begins with a conversation.

The first step is a complimentary in-home assessment with a Senior Helpers care professional. During this visit, we take the time to understand your loved one's needs, answer your questions, and discuss the type of support that will best help your family.

Together, we will review:

  • Your loved one's daily routine and care needs
  • Your family's goals and concerns
  • Recommended services and scheduling options
  • Pricing and payment methods
  • Caregiver matching
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up

Once we have a clear understanding of your family's needs, we develop a personalized care plan and carefully match your loved one with a caregiver who is the right fit.

At Senior Helpers of Central Phoenix, we know that choosing home care is an important decision. We are honored to be considered by families throughout our community, and we are committed to providing dependable care, building lasting relationships, and helping seniors live safely and comfortably in the place they call home.

Enyinaya Stefano Okafor

Enyinaya Stefano Okafor

Owner

Enyinaya was inspired to start providing quality care to seniors through his passion for serving others and his experience supporting military-affiliated students at the Oldham Family Veteran Student Center, where he assisted more than 600 military connected students, including older veterans, with tuition assistance, VA benefits, and the transition into civilian life. During his time there, he saw firsthand the unique challenges that older adults and their families can face and the importance of having compassionate, dependable support.

He also worked closely with community organizations, maintained VA records with care and accuracy, and organized programs that brought veterans together and strengthened their sense of belonging. These experiences shaped his belief that caring for others is both a privilege and a responsibility, and that quality care should always be grounded in compassion, dignity, integrity, and doing what is right.

Stephanie Ortiz

Office Manager

I have been blessed to work in the medical field for over 20 years, and throughout my career, I've found great purpose in helping others. I'm a proud mom of 3 and have been happily married to my husband of 15 years.

Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, shopping, and spending quality time with my loved ones. My greatest passion is helping those in need. It brings me joy to make people feel seen, valued, and cared for, because I believe no one should ever feel forgotten.

I also love learning and listening to old stories. There is something special about hearing people share their experiences, memories, and the wisdom they've gained throughout their lives.

I want to take this opportunity to express our thanks for the superb work Diane did for Dad while he was in the hospital. She was punctual, personable, and dedicated. She helped my Dad immensely during a difficult time for him. Her calm manner and brilliant smile worked magic. My Dad’s attitude changed completely for the better after her first visit. Thank you so much for giving us Diane. She really is a remarkable person and very caring.
