Meet the Greenwood Office

More than 90% of seniors want to age in their own home with dignity but getting the right type of care can seem daunting.  At Senior Helpers of Greenwood we believe getting the best care for your loved ones should not be complicated. Sisters Kerianne Hammond and Alexus Gunter opened the Senior Helpers of Greenwood office in 2018 because of their passion for helping others and their interest in the growing need for in-home care services.  They are committed to delivering the best possible in-home care to seniors in the Greenwood community.

We take the opportunity to provide in-home care seriously and make it a priority to provide the highest level of client service possible. We have built an exceptional team of care professionals, each committed to remaining at the forefront of the in-home care industry through our proprietary ongoing training and education programs.

Our History

Our History

Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 by Tony Bonacuse with the help of Peter Ross after their firsthand experience in caring for their respective family members. Tony and Peter identified a need that was not being filled properly by the other companies.  They realized that most seniors would prefer to age in their own home rather than move into an unfamiliar institution. Unfortunately, the options available to most seniors were very limited. Most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and affordable in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.

The first office opened in Baltimore, and quickly developed a reputation for delivering excellent in-home senior care with their well-trained staff of professional caregivers. Based on the success of the Baltimore location, the company began to expand.  Over the past 13 years, the Senior Helpers family has grown to include a network of more than 300 locally owned and operated franchises across the United States.

Senior Helpers of Greenwood was proud to join the system in 2018.  Like every other owner, we too are fully-committed to the original goal of providing dependable and affordable in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community.

Sisters Kerianne Hammond and Alexus Gunter were drawn to Senior Helpers because of their love and passion to work with the senior population.

We have been lucky to serve hundreds of seniors in our community over the years, and we are committed to continuing to provide uncompromising levels of care to all our families.

Our process

Our process

When you are in need of senior care or simply have a question of how to navigate this unique industry, one of our local office staff is available to assist you 24/7. We all understand the exhaustion of taking care of all life’s needs, especially when you are the primary caregiver to another, that is why we are there to assist you with any questions you might have on what route to take to care for your loved one.

The first step in the process is a complimentary, initial in-home care assessment with our owner and Doctor of Physical Therapy, Kerianne Hammond. This assessment can help you understand the true needs of your loved one, and your options. Together we can discuss your loved one's needs, our senior care services and determine what is best for your entire family.

We will cover:

  • Your family's specific goals
  • Your loved one's daily plan design and schedule
  • Pricing and payment methods
  • Implementation process
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up plan

Meet the Greenwood Team

Kerianne

Kerianne

Co-Owner

Kerianne, co-owner, is a Doctor of Physical Therapy with over 5 years of home healthcare experience in the Greenwood area and surrounding towns. Kerianne graduated in 2013 from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta after obtaining her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology from Presbyterian College in Clinton in 2009. Once obtaining her doctorate, Kerianne immediately began working in geriatric care because she knew that’s what she loved. Desiring to progress into the field and benefit the community to the utmost, Kerianne and her sister, Alexus, started Senior Helpers of Greenwood. Kerianne witnesses daily the strife clients and their families deal with when it comes to aging care, so, she vowed to fill the growing need in the best way she felt possible. By progressing her skills into home care, Kerianne works daily as the company’s Director of Care & Marketing to ensure that not only her knowledge of care never falters, but those that she trains doesn’t either.

Alexus

Alexus

Co-Owner

Alexus, co-owner, works daily utilizing her Master’s of Healthcare Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston as the company’s Director of Operations. Prior to obtaining her Master’s in 2017, Alexus attended the University of South Carolina where she graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Science (work studies of aging care). Having a growing love for the aging population, Alexus worked towards finding a profession where she could utilize both her passions of geriatric care and office operations. Alexus was blessed when her passions connected with her sister’s and the Lord sent along the opportunity to grow with Senior Helpers. Throughout her schooling and job opportunities, Alexus witnessed first-hand the struggles presented by aging care and made it a life ambition to work towards being a relief to that strife.

Autumn

Autumn

Senior Clerical Associate

Meet our absolutely amazing Senior Clerical Associate, Autumn. Born and raised in Saluda, SC, Autumn completed her Bachelor’s of Science in Business at our local Lander University. Autumn is trained in the expertise of professionalism and management and uses this knowledge daily to ensure our clients and caregivers questions and concerns are promptly dealt with. Daily she progresses towards learning the inner workings of professional senior care by participating in local events such as events with the Alzheimer's Association, Senior Expos, Chamber of Commerce events, and other learning opportunities to ensure she has a broad understanding of the community she serves and the resources available to them. Senior Helpers staff, caregivers, and clients are abundantly blessed to have her.

Tabitha

Tabitha

Clerical Associate

Tabitha started her Senior Helpers journey as the first caregiver of the month at Senior Helpers of Greenwood. She excelled beyond Kerianne and Alexus’s expectations of the care they wanted to provide to their loved clients. After a few months, Tabitha showed initiative to help out in the growing office and her “get it done” personality was appreciated beyond words by not only the other office staff, but to clients and fellow caregivers as well. Tabitha officially joined the internal staff on her year anniversary with the company and has grown internal metrics alongside Autumn daily by bringing an external perspective to internal operations.

Ford and Blease

Ford and Blease

CCO’s, Chief Cuteness Officers

Ford and Blease are the bundles of cuteness that belong to owners Kerianne and Alexus. If they aren’t bringing their sunshine into the office to greet caregivers and clients, they are out with Kerianne marketing with their smiles and love. We are so blessed to be able to share this journey with these two lambs.

Red and Daisy

Red and Daisy

DDO’s, Directors of Dog Operations

Don’t let the fluffy cuteness fool you. These two are serious…about treats, but also about bringing smiles to all those they lick, sniff, and love. Either of these two pups can be found at the office or out spreading their love to the area.

I chose senior care for my aunt immediately after she moved into Wesley Commons, secondary to the one-on-one care I felt she needed. After speaking with Wesley Commons they were quick to suggest Senior Helpers and we were not disappointed. They took the time to match my aunt with the appropriate caregivers for her needs. She struggled with rapid onset Alzheimer’s and the caregivers all demonstrated patience with reminding her of her safety, location, and other important things that seemed to escape her during that time. Their training program, Senior Gems, that they specialize their caregivers in seems to really pay off in times when she needed it most.
