Meet the Southwest Columbus office

More than 90% of seniors want to be able to age in their own home with dignity but getting the right type of care can seem daunting.  At Senior Helpers of Southwest Columbus we believe that getting the best care for your loved ones should not be complicated.  We recognize the growing need for in-home care services, and with our passion for helping others, we are committed to delivering the best possible care to seniors in the Columbus community. 

We take the opportunity to provide care in your home seriously and make it a priority to provide the highest level of client service possible.  We have built an exceptional team of care professionals, each committed to remaining at the forefront of the in-home care industry through our proprietary ongoing training and education programs. Our History

Senior Helpers of Southwest Columbus was founded with a mission to provide compassionate, high-quality in-home care to seniors and their families. Inspired by personal experiences with terminal illness in the family and witnessing firsthand the challenges of in-home care, Devin Shaffer opened this location to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors.

From the beginning, our goal has been to create a supportive environment not only for clients but also for our caregivers. With a focus on teamwork, growth, and accountability, we aim to deliver care that allows seniors to age in place with dignity, respect, and independence. Sharron Underwood, a former McDonald’s franchisee, serves as our Office Manager, bringing valuable leadership experience to the team.

The first step in the process is a complimentary, initial in-home care assessment with a Senior Helpers consultant.  This assessment can help you understand the true needs of your loved one, and your options. Together we can discuss their needs, our senior care services and determine what’s best for your entire family.

We will cover:

  • Your family's specific goals
  • Your loved one's daily plan design and schedule
  • Pricing and payment methods
  •  Implementation process
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up plan

Owner

Devin Schaffer is the proud owner of Senior Helpers of Southwest Columbus, driven by a personal mission to support seniors and their families. After losing both of his parents to terminal illness and helping several other family members navigate in-home care, Devin understands firsthand the challenges families face and the profound impact compassionate care can have.

He is deeply committed to providing seniors with the comfort, safety, and dignity they deserve while helping families feel supported and confident in their loved one’s care. Devin is equally passionate about creating a nurturing and rewarding workplace where teammates can grow, thrive, and make a meaningful difference every day.

Devin has been happily married to his wife, Dawn, for 14 years, and is a devoted father to their 15-year-old daughter, Logan, 14-year-old son, Greyson, and their playful 1.5-year-old Golden Doodle, Remy. When he is not caring for seniors or building his team, Devin enjoys golfing, reading, and challenging himself with a game of chess.

A dedicated member of his community, Devin serves on the boards of The Lincoln Theater, an iconic Columbus institution that supports and showcases local artists, and RTNI, a faith-based organization focused on life-on-life discipleship and connecting with people in challenging circumstances.

I want to take this opportunity to express our thanks for the superb work Diane did for Dad while he was in the hospital. She was punctual, personable, and dedicated. She helped my Dad immensely during a difficult time for him. Her calm manner and brilliant smile worked magic. My Dad’s attitude changed completely for the better after her first visit. Thank you so much for giving us Diane. She really is a remarkable person and very caring.
