Meet the W. Cuyahoga & E. Lorain Counties office

More than 90% of seniors want to be able to age in their own home with dignity but getting the right type of care can seem daunting.  At Senior Helpers of W. Cuyahoga & E. Lorain Counties we believe that getting the best care for your loved ones should not be complicated.  We recognize the growing need for in-home care services, and with our passion for helping others, we are committed to delivering the best possible care to seniors in the Westlake community.

We take the opportunity to provide care in your home seriously and make it a priority to provide the highest level of client service possible.  We have built an exceptional team of care professionals, each committed to remaining at the forefront of the in-home care industry through our proprietary ongoing training and education programs. You can feel confident that your loved one is in good hands with Senior Helpers.

Our History

Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 by Tony Bonacuse with the help of Peter Ross after their firsthand experience in caring for their respective family members. Tony and Peter identified a need that was not being filled properly by the other companies.  They realized that most seniors would prefer to age in their own home rather than move into an unfamiliar institution.  Unfortunately, the options available to most seniors were very limited.  Most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and accessible in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.

The first office opened in Baltimore, Maryland, and quickly developed a reputation for delivering excellent in-home senior care with their well-trained staff of professional caregivers. Based on the success of the Baltimore location, the company began to expand.  Over the past 13 years, the Senior Helpers family has grown to include a network of more than 300 locally owned and operated franchises across the United States.

Senior Helpers of W. Cuyahoga & E. Lorain Counties was proud to join the system in 2025.  Like every other owner, we too are fully-committed to the original goal of providing dependable and accessible in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community.  We are lucky to serve hundreds of seniors in our community, and we are committed to continuing to provide uncompromising levels of care to all our families.

Our process

Our process

The first step in the process is a complimentary, initial in-home care assessment with a Senior Helpers consultant.  This assessment can help you understand the true needs of your loved one, and your options. Together we can discuss their needs, our senior care services and determine what’s best for your entire family.

We will cover:

  • Your family's specific goals
  • Your loved one's daily plan design and schedule
  • Pricing and payment methods
  •  Implementation process
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up plan

Meet the W. Cuyahoga & E. Lorain Counties Team

Jerry Aubel

Jerry Aubel

Owner

Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, Jerry Aubel has a deep appreciation for the people and communities of the region. Witnessing firsthand the challenges families face when balancing caregiving with everyday life, and the difficulty in finding trusted, reliable support, Jerry was inspired to make a difference. He set out to build a team of compassionate caregivers committed to providing exceptional care families can rely on.

Jerry is passionate about delivering best-in-class, high-touch service to both clients and caregivers. He believes his purpose is to help people succeed and become the best versions of themselves, ensuring families have access to the most trusted resource in home care.

A lifelong Northeasterner, Jerry comes from a close-knit family that instilled in him the values of support, perseverance, and giving back. He and his wife, Kim, a dedicated Oncology Nurse with over 40 years of service at University Hospitals of Cleveland, have been true partners for more than 30 years. They are proud parents of two accomplished children, Alexa, a Doctor of Occupational Therapy, and a US Navy pilot son, Joshua, both married in 2024. Their family is rounded out by Koda, their second rescue dog, a brindle Mountain Cur.

Outside of work, Jerry is an avid outdoorsman with a love for fly-tying, fly-fishing, woodworking, and Ohio State football. He is actively involved in the community, serving on his college fraternity alumni board as chair of the annual scholarship fund, the largest Greek alumni fund at the college. He is also a parishioner at North Olmsted Evangelical Friends Church, where he serves as the church liaison for Habitat for Humanity. He also serves as a mentor for young professionals in the area.

Stacy DeChant

Stacy DeChant

Office Manager

Born and raised in Cleveland, Stacy DeChant loves everything about the people and neighborhoods of Northeast Ohio.  Her first job in high school was at the retirement home at the top of her street as a dietary aide.  She enjoyed creating themed cakes for dessert at the retirement community, and all the residents raved about them.  She called BINGO on Tuesday nights and grew close to several residents.

Stacy set off to Bowling Green State University to major in Hospitality Management.  Her passion was to provide top-notch customer service to everyone she encountered. Stacy had much success with Hyatt Hotels in Atlanta, St. Louis, and the opening of the hotel in Cleveland.  She provided excellent customer service to such groups as the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and the Spiderman Film Crew.  Detailing each event and executing it with precision.  Ensuring the customers are both happy and satisfied.  Stacy believes that taking care of people, listening to their needs, and executing precisely are keys to making people happy.

As an only child, Stacy grew up very close to her grandparents, aunts and uncles.  She was raised to believe that hard work is rewarded and respect is earned.  Stacy and her husband, Rick, have been married for more than 15 years and have been blessed by their son, Louie.  Louie is involved in many sports, including soccer, rugby, and swim club.  Their family just became complete when they added two cats, Guac and Moon, from the APL.

Outside of work, Stacy is a huge football fan – both Ohio State and the Cleveland Browns.  She loves hiking in the Metroparks, scrapbooking and travelling to new places.  She is actively involved at St. Angela Merici, both the school and the Church.  She is the assistant basketball coach for her son's CYO team and manages the Children's Navity Mass at the parish.  Stacy also volunteers at Donauschwaben German-American Cultural Center, where her son is a member of the Jugendgruppe Dance Group.

I want to take this opportunity to express our thanks for the superb work Diane did for Dad while he was in the hospital. She was punctual, personable, and dedicated. She helped my Dad immensely during a difficult time for him. Her calm manner and brilliant smile worked magic. My Dad’s attitude changed completely for the better after her first visit. Thank you so much for giving us Diane. She really is a remarkable person and very caring.
