Fathers Day and In Home Senior Care

June marks the end of school, the start of summer and a special holiday created for celebrating fathers everywhere.  If your dad is like a lot of other dads, he’s probably expecting a new tie.  This Fathers Day, step out of the box and give Dad something he won’t expect.

With hectic schedules, it can be difficult sometimes to just sit and listen to each other.  This Father’s Day, show him how much you appreciate him and give him the gift of time and undivided attention.  Showing Dad how much you love him doesn’t have to cost a lot of money.  Spending time preparing a special meal, a craft, or photobook doesn’t take too much time and doesn’t cost a lot to show you care.

If your father is a movie buff and his favorite pastime is vegging out in front a good flick, surprise him with a trip to the cinema.  It’s probably been a long time since you’ve shared a tub of popcorn with Dad.  A dark theater is a wonderful way to get some genuine one-on-one time and something to discuss over coffee afterwards.

If your father is a bit more low-key, perhaps showing up at his home with a couple coffees and a newspaper will be a wonderful way to start his Father’s Day.  Spread out the paper and browse the stories and headlines.  Talk about the local attractions and current world news.  Ask his opinion on the information you read together.   You may be surprised that his views have changed over time or that he might actually agree with you in some cases.  It can be fun to rediscover each other.

Invite Dad out for a stroll down a local lake or park.  The weather is finally warm and it can be enjoyable to spend a morning in the fresh air.  Getting outside for just thirty minutes can be very refreshing and reviving to the spirit.

Another way to celebrate Dad this Father’s Day is to create a picture book full of fun memories you shared and little stories in a printed, hardcover book that can easily be created online.  This thoughtful treasure will be something that can be kept and passed on to future generations.  There is nothing better to share with our family then stories of our past and what makes us each unique.
