Alzheimer's & Dementia Care

The unfortunate thing about Alzheimer’s is its ability to completely change the life of the afflicted and their loved ones. This progressive brain disease is also known as dementia and can show up as memory loss and additional cognitive impairments like difficulty in communication, visual issues, and inability to handle complex tasks that were previously easy to do.

If your loved one is experiencing the symptoms of Alzheimer’s or dementia, they will soon need more care than you may be able to provide for them, especially if they are your parents. At Senior Helpers of Greenwood and South Indianapolis, we understand the mental and physical stress you can come under when you become the sole caretaker of your loved one. This is why we offer our Franklin, Indianapolis, and Greenwood Alzheimer’s care and dementia care support services. We are leaders in the industry and we know the best ways to take care of your loved one, so you never have to worry about sacrificing their quality of care.

We want you to be included in the entire process, which is why  our Indianapolis, Franklin, and Greenwood Alzheimer’s care and dementia support services work with you to create a specialized care plan that takes into consideration the unique needs of your loved one. We can help with daily tasks as well as assist with medications and even provide something as simple as companionship care. We have the same goal when it comes to the care of your loved one, and that is to ensure they are in a caring and safe living environment where they can enjoy the activities they love. This is done through our Senior Gems care program.

Our Senior Gems program is how our caregivers can provide the care and support your loved one needs when navigating this new phase of life or if they are experiencing late stage dementia. With Senior Gems we can find out the unique and specific requirements that your loved one needs to have met to live comfortably.

As Alzheimer’s or dementia progresses, the Senior Helpers of Greenwood and South Indianapolis use positive care approaches that allow your loved one to continue on and live a life that is truly full of purpose all in the comfort of their own home. Our Gems techniques and approach to senior care was developed by Positive Approach, LLC, created by Teepa Snow.

The Gems classification system allows trained Senior Helpers caregivers to:

  • Identify the characteristics of different stages of dementia
  • Understand what a person can still do based on a gem level
  • Use specific strategies based on gem level to care for our seniors.
  • Create the best plan for caring for the individual long term.
