Meet the North Miami office

More than 90% of seniors want to age in their own home with comfort and dignity. At Senior Helpers North Miami & Miami Beach, we believe that getting the best care for your loved ones should not be complicated. Aleyda opened this Senior Helpers office because of her passion for helping others and her interest in the growing need for in-home care services. Aleyda is committed to delivering the best possible in-home care to seniors in the Miami-Dade community.

We take in-home care very seriously and make it a priority to provide the highest level of client service possible. Over the past years we have built an exceptional team of care professionals, each committed to remaining at the forefront of the in-home care industry through our proprietary ongoing training and education programs.

Our History

Our History

Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 by Tony Bonacuse with the help of Peter Ross after their firsthand experience in caring for their respective family members. Tony and Peter identified a need that was not being filled properly by the other companies. They realized that most seniors would prefer to age in their own home rather than move into an unfamiliar institution. Unfortunately, the options available to most seniors were very limited. Most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and affordable in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.

The first office opened in Baltimore, and quickly developed a reputation for delivering excellent in-home senior care with their well-trained staff of professional caregivers. Based on the success of the Baltimore location, the company began to expand. Over the past 18 years, the Senior Helpers family has grown to include a network of more than 300 locally owned and operated franchises across the United States.

Senior Helpers North Miami & Miami Beach is proud to join the community in 2020. We are fully committed to the original goal of providing dependable and affordable in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community.

Our process

Our process

The first step in the process is a complimentary, initial in-home care assessment with a Senior Helpers consultant.  This assessment can help you understand the true needs of your loved one, and your options. Together we can discuss their needs, our senior care services and determine what’s best for your entire family.

We will cover:

  • Your family's specific goals
  • Your loved one's daily plan design and schedule
  • Pricing and payment methods
  • Implementation process
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up plan

Aleyda Chavez

Owner

I was born in New York City from immigrant parents who from an early age taught me to work hard and persevere through tough times. As a child, I had an opportunity to live and study in Ecuador, South America. I was around family and friends who also taught me Spanish, the sense of community, and the importance of family. My family came back to the US and then moved to Florida where I went to high school and then universities. I have a Bachelor from FIU in Marketing and International Business and an MBA from FAU.

Most of my career has been spent in call centers management.  I started out as a phone sales agent and grew into roles of quality control, training, operations, account and leadership positions.  I bring years of experience in business development, account management, and mentoring and coaching people.

In my personal time, I love to spend time with my family to play board games, share great foods and just spend quality time together. I also love getting together with my friends, listen to music, dance, take photos and travel locally or further out to explore new cultures. All this fun and work is always combined with helping others through volunteering with the United Way, the Red Cross, and the Foundation for Seniors in Bahia de Caráquez, Ecuador, who I have supported for over 10 years.  Helping the foundation has always made me want to do more for our seniors, for their health, wellbeing, and happiness.

I was drawn to Senior Helpers because of my passion for caring for others, especially our elders and our Veterans. I want to make a difference and contribute to the community.

Registered Nurse

I was born and raised in South Florida. From a young age I knew I wanted to do something in the medical field. In high school I was fortunate to attend a pathway school that allowed health careers as an elective. I was able to volunteer in a hospital and observe different careers. It was then that I knew I wanted to be a nurse.

My dreams became a reality in 2004 when I graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. I began my career as a floor nurse at a nearby hospital. Later, I received my Master of Science degree in Nursing and advanced to a nurse practitioner role within the same hospital.

My passion for nursing stems from the opportunities I see every day to make a difference in someone's life.  I find joy in caring for my patients and families. In my spare time I enjoy crafting, traveling, and spending time with family & friends.

Javier Chavez

Javier Chavez

Community Relations Coordinator

After serving 12 years in the Marine Corps, Javier wanted to continue helping people in some way. He became a realtor and created a program to help veterans reach that dream of purchasing their own home. After a little more than 10 years, though still involved in real estate, Javier also found a passion in helping the adult community have the quality of life they deserve with support provided by Senior Helpers.

Javier works with the community and referral sources to link the in-home personal care needs with the services provided by our caregivers at Senior Helpers.

Lynn Camelio

Lynn Camelio

HR Coordinator (part time)

Born and raised in Boston, I found my passion for caring for others when I returned to work after being a stay-at-home mom for 8 years.  I accepted a position in an elementary school working with special needs children; most specifically autistic children.  I attended the required training and did a great amount of reading on my own in an effort to understand as much as I could so that I could make a significant, positive impact on their education and their life.  The personal satisfaction I experienced in seeing these children respond, learn and grow with my assistance gave me the significant, positive impact on my life that I was hoping to make on theirs.  Winners all around!

In January 2017 I found my calling again with Senior Helpers Boston.  My focus on caring shifted from children to the elderly, but the positive impact and personal satisfaction I experienced was the same.

My role in Boston was that of Office Manager/HR Administrator, with concentration on caregiver recruiting and onboarding.  I was the “go to” person for the caregivers.  The bonds that developed between myself and our caregivers gave me not only professional but profound personal satisfaction.

Caregivers are a unique and elite group.  Their selfless dedication to caring for our elderly and others in the community is a testament to the values I strive to live by.

I am very excited to have the opportunity to work closely with our caregivers, to support them in any way I can, to form those close bonds again and to make their jobs and their experience with Senior Helpers North Miami and Miami Beach to be a gratifying experience.
