Why Senior Helpers

Senior Helpers Owner, Tiffany Phelan, tells her story and philosophy of service.

Our History

Senior Helpers of Mesa was opened in 2020 by Shaun and Tiffany Phelan, who have owned the Senior Helpers location in Scottsdale since 2007.  Shaun and Tiffany live in Mesa, in Las Sendas, and feel a strong connection to their community.  Expanding to offer services in Mesa is an important part of their mission to bring the highest quality senior care to folks further east in the Valley.  Shaun Phelan was inspired to start providing quality care to the senior population after he witnessed the challenges his family experienced while trying to care for his grandfather. He realized the importance of providing personalized care to the senior population, so that your loved one feels like they are being cared for by someone they can connect with and never a stranger.

Shaun’s wife Tiffany had had similar experiences when her grandmother became the primary caregiver for her grandfather who had Hungtington’s Disease. Her grandmother struggled to find caregivers who were familiar with this rare disease or any neurodegenerative diseases. This posed many challenges for Tiffany and her family, but it was what inspired her to join Senior Helpers. This fueled her passion to provide high quality, skilled care throughout the Valley.

Like every other owner in the Senior Helpers family, we are fully-committed to the original goal of providing dependable and affordable in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community. We believe that our most important calling is to ensure seniors are safe in that we can preserve their dignity and improve their quality of life through our work.

Due to our on-going dedication to compassionate senior care we have been lucky to serve thousamds of seniors in the Valley area over the years. At Senior Helpers we are committed to continuing to provide uncompromising levels of care to all our families.

At Senior Helpers, the foundation of our success is education.  We strive to educate both professional and family caregivers on the best approaches to care in order to honor our seniors and their contributions to our community.

In 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, Senior Helpers was named a Fortune Magazine Great Place to Work and Best Place to Work in Aging Care Services based on surveys of current employees.

Our process

Our process

The first step in the process is a complimentary, initial in-home care assessment with a Senior Helpers consultant.  This assessment can help you understand the true needs of your loved one, and your options. Together we can discuss their needs, our senior care services and determine what’s best for your entire family.

We will cover:

  • Your family's specific goals
  • Your loved one's daily plan design and schedule
  • Pricing and payment methods
  •  Implementation process
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up plan

I want to take this opportunity to express our thanks for the superb work Diane did for Dad while he was in the hospital. She was punctual, personable, and dedicated. She helped my Dad immensely during a difficult time for him. Her calm manner and brilliant smile worked magic. My Dad’s attitude changed completely for the better after her first visit. Thank you so much for giving us Diane. She really is a remarkable person and very caring.
