As we near the spring season, the weather will take a turn for the better. That means the time to get back outside and stay active is nearly upon us. Seniors that have been active all of their lives may find this time to be enjoyable, but that may not be the case for everyone. Even with senior home care in place, getting exercise can be hard, but we want you to know that it doesn't have to be.
Others have told us that, when they aren't feeling well, just getting up and moving around can help to improve their mood. It may not be exactly "exercising", but it's important to only go at a pace that you feel comfortable. Breaking these walls and obstacles down can really help to boost morale and overall health. Because once you've started on the path of motion, it's really hard to stop because it feels so grand. Who knows? Maybe in a few short weeks or so you'll find yourself going from moving around to long walks or jogs.
Something that might help in being active is finding others that are. We know that it's tough to feel motivated when you've got someone who is in their twenties telling you how to exercise. Try to find people that you can identify with that are already taking the plunge to be active. Maybe start a group, and attract more people. Fitness is a wonderful group exercise, and if you manage to become part of that, you will find a lot of enjoyment in it.
So just because it's winter right now doesn't mean you can't look forward to the wonderful spring weather. You don't have to "get out and get some exercise", just start by moving around.
