Senior Friendly Activities to Enjoy in Richmond, VA

Senior Helpers loves helping our elderly clients discover local activities they can enjoy with other seniors in their community, as we know how important socialization is to one's overall health. Here are just few ideas to get you out and about in Richmond and the surrounding areas:

  • Maymont Botanical Garden: Maymont has a variety of gardens all connected by a walking path. The gardens are a great place to get some fresh air and exercise.

  • Pole Green Farmer's Market: this Mechanicsville market sells locally-grown produce and flowers.

  • The Byrd Theatre: this historic movie theater is located in the heart of Carytown, a vibrant street with blocks of eclectic shops and delicious restaurants.

  • Virginia Center on Aging: the Center offers many community resources and programs for seniors.

I met many of the caregivers -- all cheerful, reliable, professional and eager to help Dad with anything he needed: bathing, dressing, transportation, household chores, He commented that they offered to help with things he hadn't thought about, but which were needed and appreciated. I never worried a minute about the quality of his care or the integrity of his caregivers. Tremendous peace of mind for us. Dad is back on his feet now and independent again, thanks to the quality care he received as he healed. If he ever needs help again, I will promptly call Senior Helpers!
