Mark Friedman, Senior Helpers Boston & Senior Helpers South Shore Owner
My name is Mark Friedman and I have been in the senior care industry since 2009. Senior Care is my passion. As Owner of Senior Helpers Boston, my goal has been to set a new standard in home care in Massachusetts – from our roots delivering exceptional home care, to a high-touch agency with significant resources and connections for elders in more than 75 communities in and around the city of Boston. I need to tell all of you how much I respect Steve and Robin Smith and have enjoyed working with them in Senior Helpers and in the metro Boston area over the past seven years. It is our common views on care that brought us together.

I have always believed aging is a journey, and at Senior Helpers Boston and Senior Helpers South Shore, we delight in meeting seniors wherever they are in their deeply personal travels. We advocate for aging in place because we care for seniors wherever that “place” happens to be. The depth and breadth of our services reflect our client’s increasingly complex needs in an increasingly complex environment. These requirements frame everything we do and how we do it.

We are well respected for our rigorous and highly selective caregiver recruitment, training, and education. And because of our significant footprint in the market, we now recruit from an impressive pool of professionals. I appreciate having this deep range of talent to draw from. It gives us a special edge.

My personal mission for Senior Helpers Boston and Senior Helpers South Shore is simple: to set the bar in caregiver training, education, and quality of services and experiences. And I want the bar to be very high.

It is why I advocate and lead the charge for home care licensing and standardized practices as an Advisory Committee member for the Home Care Alliance (HCA). It is why I have served as the national chairperson of the Senior Helpers Owners Council for the last five years and chair the Senior Helpers Service committee looking at the future needs of seniors and how we can meet them. It is why I teach and hope to influence the next generation of industry leaders as a Faculty member in Lasell College’s ambitious E.L.D.E.R. Partnership Program. And finally, why I share what I learn. As a certified trainer of the Virtual Dementia Tour (VDT®) I share the awesome and inspirational work being done in Alzheimer’s and Dementia care with my professional colleagues. So together, we all raise the bar.

Think of it this way; delivering comfort is what we do, delivering so much more, is how we care. Our goal is to be more than just a Senior Care provider but be your trusted partner in care.

With this objective, our approach is built on a focus on Care Management, Education and Training and Professionalism.

  1. We want to make sure your experience or that of your patient, resident or loved one is a great one. We make monthly visits by either our nursing staff or Client Services Managers. They want to understand how care is going; are there suggestions for improvement; and, they want to check on each caregiver to see if they have questions on or recommendations for your plan of care.

  2. Our caregivers have monthly “in-service” trainings we provide on care techniques, general information on senior care, or forms of specialized care such as Dementia or Parkinson’s that can help them be even better as caregivers. We are excited about training and we want to be the best.

  3. We have great respect for our caregivers and feel strongly that in addition to strong training programs, dressing professionally is important. I have provided all of our caregivers Royal Blue polo shirts with the Senior Helpers Logo. We are proud of our aides and are proud to have them wear our logo.

We are always interested in your feedback and we appreciate you selecting Senior Helpers to provide care.

Thank you again for your trust!

Thank you for all you do!

And by implementing the Virtual Dementia Tour companywide, Senior Helpers has further demonstrated its commitment to those it serves. Senior Helpers is proud to support Second Wind Dreams® on this mission by encouraging donations, raising awareness, and sensitizing the world to dementia as a corporate partner.

What is the Virtual Dementia Tour?

Learning to create a positive environment for those with dementia can only come from attempting to walk in their shoes. Created by P.K. Beville, a specialist in geriatrics, this valuable, easy to follow experiential tour is designed to instill hope in professional and family caregivers, providing them with a tool to move from sympathy to empathy and better understand the behaviors and needs of their loved ones and patients.
