Matthew La Plante is the Owner and President of this Senior Helpers office. Matthew grew up in Sturbridge and has been a lifelong resident of Massachusetts. He graduated with Honors from Becker College in Worcester. As an entrepreneur and business owner of a Ziebart franchise in Shrewsbury for over 20 years, he knows how to treat customers and employees as the most important part of the business. His reputation as honest, fair and highly ethical were known in the towns where his customers came from, including Northboro, Southboro, Westboro, Grafton, Framingham, Natick and all of Central MA. His energy and enthusiasm were and still are contagious.
Many of Matthew’s regular customers were older. He got to know them over the years. As they aged, he recognized the health struggles the customers and their spouses had. He realized how passionate he was about his aging clientele and senior citizens.
As a young boy, Matthew helped an older gentleman that he knew from church with some caregiving duties - light housekeeping, mowing his lawn, and other things to help him stay in his home. Matthew loved sitting with him and hearing the stories of his past.
As Matthew’s parents began to age, his father, a Navy veteran, was diagnosed with early stage Alzheimer’s. Shortly after his diagnosis, Matthew’s mother had double knee surgery. Matthew had sold his business at an opportune time. His parents sold their house and moved in with him and his family. He quickly became the primary caregiver for both of his parents for a period of time. He realized how much help and support both his father and mother would need as they got older and as his Dad’s Alzheimer’s progressed to each stage. He and his wife renovated their home to build an in-law apartment for his parents, so they would always be close to him if they needed anything at all.
After searching his heart for the next chapter of his life, Matthew decided he wanted to dedicate his life and career to helping senior citizens to spend their time at home comfortably with whatever help Senior Helpers can provide them with.
At Senior Helpers, our goal is to provide the information and support families need to care for their loved ones so they can enjoy their time together more and worry less. To ensure you get the most out of Senior Helpers, please call us for a free in-home assessment.
