Spring has sprung and the weather is finally starting to warm up around the country! Warmer weather of course means more time spent outdoors, and plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmer's markets or gardens!
Speaking of fruits and other fresh foods, Senior Helpers put together a short list of some of our favorite springtime snacks that are perfect for caregivers and seniors on the go. Check them out!
Fruit Smoothies – Blend your favorite fruit, yogurt, and ice in a blender to create a tasty (and filling) smoothie! You can also add milk and oats for extra flavor. Don't forget the greens, either! You can add spinach or kale to any smoothie and add extra nutrients without detracting from the sweet, fruity taste.
Fruit Salad – Cut up strawberries, watermelon, grapes, berries, and more to create a beautifully delicious fruit salad. Fruit salads are perfect for breakfast, dessert, and of course snack times in between. Fruit is also very hydrating which is great for warmer weather and more time spent outdoors.
Pudding Pops – Put sugar-free pudding pops in the freezer with a popsicle stick in the center. Freeze for about an hour and enjoy this sugar-free snack! These treats are super easy to make, so encourage your aging loved one to participate in the “cooking”!
