Inspired Memory Care

It is in the spirit of teamwork and continued growth, Senior Helpers has chosen to partner with Inspired Memory Care to offer only the highest quality care to individuals living with dementia and their families 

Inspired Memory Care is a consultative team with years of hands-on experience with individuals and families living with dementia in a variety of settings.  The team is well known for training, coaching and working directly with care professionals to improve outcomes and daily living. 

Senior Helpers NYC is pleased to bring on the Inspired Memory Care Team to provide training to the office and caregiving team, as well as to work one on one with clients as needed to support their adjustment in partnering for care, to navigate changes and overall ensure all efforts are being made for only the best home care experience.

We will discuss evidence-based recreational modalities to holistically support individuals living with chronic pain in the home and modalities to positively impact healing and quality of life at home for patients who have undergone orthopedic surgeries. We will also explore with participants in-home and community-based therapeutic recreation resources.

We will explore the meaning of Ambiguous loss as defined by Pauline Boss and how it differs from other losses. Participants will explore the signs and symptoms of grief, as well as research pertaining to leisure-based coping skills. Participants will receive an ambiguous loss resource guide.

We will discuss creative strategies for self-care and involving individuals living with memory impairment with planning, preparing, and celebrating a meaningful event with friends and family. In the spirit of the season, Inspired Memory Care will gift participants with a digital download home activity to share with a client.

Persons Living with Dementia and End of Life Care

During this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to explore ways they can support their loved ones or clients through the end of life. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the concepts of Disenfranchised Grief and Ambiguous Loss. We will discuss ways care-partners can make connections through the senses. We will explore the use of therapeutic recreation and creative art-based techniques for connecting family and friends with their loved ones living with dementia at end of life.

Montessori Principles: Do they support persons living with dementia?

The participants will learn how using Montessori principles can provide care and support to persons living with dementia to enhance the quality of life and sense of belonging to their community. Participants will understand the importance of establishing routines and roles through repetition and practice, allowing a person living with dementia the freedom to make their own choices. Presenters will share case examples of supporting a person living with dementia through creating an environment that provides sustained life enrichment, engaging hands-on materials, and supporting the person’s abilities and level of independence.
