Senior Helpers Greater Seacoast in the News

Walter's Words of Wisdom

Walter's Words of Wisdom

Check out the latest Seacoast BARK by Walter Eugene Davis!

So friends we all age a little differently. For me its 7 years to every 1 human year. At some point we actually catch up to one another. Just like me, as you age, we all start to slow down a little. Let’s look at your favorite car (Oh, I love to ride in the Senior Helpers Soul car). A new car runs smoothly with almost no maintenance or repairs needed. As time goes on, however, repairs are needed to maintain function. Parts are wearing out and it’s time to do some maintenance (like that knee I have been complaining about). It does not mean that the car doesn’t work. It just means that we need to change what we are doing (like my Mom driving faster than angels fly).

Committed to Making a Difference

When meeting Gayle and Dwight Davis you know right away that they love what they do, and their clients love that they are doing it. Gayle and Dwight both learned firsthand while caring for their respective parents the challenges of caring for someone who is aging. When Gayle’s mom passed, she was constantly being asked by friends and family for resources available for aging parents. This passion for helping others led them to look at several business opportunities for in-home care companies. They decided on the franchise, Senior Helpers, because they like the idea of having systems for success in place and the support of a franchise behind them.

STRATHAM, N.H. – November 2, 2018 – Senior Helpers today announced that Dwight Davis was awarded the 2018 Business Excellence Award in the HEALTHCARE for small organizations from NH Business Review. The annual awards honor top business leaders in New Hampshire for their industriousness, innovation and imagination. The annual Business Excellence Awards ceremony, honoring all recipients, was held on Thursday, November 1st from 5:30 – 8:30pm at the DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Downtown.

Dwight Davis was selected for his companies work in the In-Home Health Care services; Senior Helpers provides services in Hillsborough, Merrimack, Rockingham and Strafford counties. Davis worked with ApprenticeshipUSA-NH and the Community College System of New Hampshire to develop and launch the first Home Health Aid Apprenticeship Program in the State of New Hampshire. Great Bay Community College was the first to host the course beginning in January 2018.

“We are humbled by the nomination and the receipt of NHBR’s Business Excellence Award. The need for in-home care in New Hampshire continues to grow exponentially as seniors choose to age in place…to live in their home for as long as possible. It is a need that New Hampshire is currently ill equipped to handle.  We have built a fantastic team that continues to work diligently to address the needs of our community and to provide in home care for seniors and others in need of assistance with ADLs (activities of daily living), as well as good employment for those seeking a career path that has real earnings and growth potential for the foreseeable future.”

NH Business Review launched the Business Excellence Awards in 2002 to recognize New Hampshire’s business leaders who work tirelessly to cultivate and grow the local and statewide economy.

“We’re proud to honor this year’s impressive list of Business Excellence Awards recipients, all of whom play a significant role in the overall success of New Hampshire’s economy,” said Jeff Feingold, editor of NH Business Review. “Congratulations to Dwight, and all of this year’s recipients, who continue to make a positive impact on the Granite State and to inspire success through focus and hard work.”

Senior Helpers of the Greater Seacoast Awarded “Rookie of the Year”

Dwight and Gayle Davis Honored at Organization’s Annual Conference
(Sept. 27, 2016) Stratham, New Hampshire — Senior Helpers of the Greater Seacoast was recently named 2016 Rookie of the Year at the Senior Helpers annual conference last month. Since the location opened in 2014, the company has experienced a 586-percent growth. Run by husband and wife duo Dwight and Gayle Davis, Senior Helpers of the Greater Seacoast serves anyone over the age of 18. Their current clients are between the ages of 25-94, and in need of in-home assistance for reasons ranging from spinal cord injury to dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

In addition to exceptional growth, in less than two years, the company has:

  • Spearheaded a partnership with Project Walk, a recovery program dedicated to helping people suffering from spinal cord injuries to sit, stand and walk again. The Project Walk office is the first location on the east coast.
  • Trained more than 750 families through the Virtual Dementia Tour®.
  • Partnered with the American Red Cross and LNA Health Careers to launch a scholarship program for LNA/CNA health careers in hopes of resolving the nation’s shortage of healthcare workers.

Dwight Davis was one vote away from winning NBA Rookie of the Year in 1973 so this honor for Senior Helpers is near and dear to his heart. While playing for the NBA and running an in-home senior care business are vastly different, they both require something integral for its success: teamwork.

“At Senior Helpers, we work in teams to ensure there is always someone on the bench ready to step up,” said Davis. “Because of this, we have earned an unprecedented level of confidence from our clients and their families. Our number one goal is to give families hope and peace of mind through our services and programs.”

Davis also noted that in addition to encouraging teamwork, Senior Helpers of the Greater Seacoast provides employees with an environment where they can thrive and an opportunity to grow with the company.

Located in Stratham, New Hampshire, Senior Helpers of the Greater Seacoast serves Rockingham and Strafford Counties.
