June is National Safety Month!

At Senior Helpers, one of our key focus areas is making sure that your senior is comfortable and safe in their home. While safety is a year-round concern for in-home care, National Safety Month is the perfect time to take a moment to ensure your elderly loved one’s home is as safe as possible.

As we age, accidents and injuries become much more serious. Did you know that one-fourth of Americans aged 65 years or older fall each year in America? According to National Council on Aging, falls result in more than 2.8 million injuries treated in emergency departments annually, including over 800,000 hospitalizations and more than 27,000 deaths. It’s a scary thought.

In an effort to avoid falls, Senior Helpers put together a Home Safety Checklist that we encourage you to print and keep visible in your senior’s home as a constant reminder to keep their home safe.
