As we age, we tend to develop more of a sweet tooth, which can turn us off from other important food groups such as vegetables. This could make it difficult to encourage your aging loved one to eat a healthy diet.

Fortunately, there are tons of tricks for adding vegetables to every meal without an overwhelming vegetable taste. Here are some of our favorites:

Breakfast:

Smoothies – throw some spinach or kale into your morning fruit smoothie to get your greens in early! The fruit overpowers the taste of the leafy greens, so you won’t even know you’re drinking it!

Lunch:

Lettuce Wraps – instead of bread or tortillas, make your next sandwich or wrap inside a leafy green. Stack 2 or 3 large, leafy greens such as romaine, red lettuce, or cabbage and pile on the fixings!

Dinner:

Homemade veggie burger – who doesn’t love a burger for dinner? This delicious black bean burger is perfect for quick meals that are packed with vegetables. You can find the recipe here!

Dessert:

Chocolate Chip Chickpea Blondies – Your aging loved one won’t even know they are eating vegetables with this delicious veggie dessert!
