Senior travel clubs are a great option for seniors who still want to travel and see the world, but don’t want to bother with the hassle of planning a trip and figuring out the logistics on their own.
Traveling with a senior travel club often offers greater discounts than seniors can get traveling alone. Rates for hotels, airfare, entry fees to attractions, and many other travel expenses are negotiated by the travel clubs for the best rates. Check out some of our tips on finding the right senior travel club.
Do your research. Make sure you check out a few different senior travel clubs before settling on one. You want to make sure the club is a right fit for you or for you aging loved one.
Test the waters. Go on a short trip with your club before traveling the world. You don’t want to go overseas with a group of people with whom you have nothing in common! Start with a day trip instead.
Power in numbers. Bring a friend along. You are more likely to feel comfortable in a larger group if you aren’t alone. Ask a close friend who has the same travel interests as you do.
Traveling is a wonderful way to feel good and stay young. Going to interesting destinations and experiencing new adventures, foods and people is a great way to keep the mind active and your spirit alive. Whether you are single or married, there is a vacation for you. Senior Vacation Clubs can be found in a variety of places. Many 55 and over communities have their own clubs. Inquire in your clubhouse to see if your community has one. If not, check with your local senior center. They can be a wonderful source of information.
Another option would be your temple or church. Many of these houses of worship have a senior group which also plans trips. Finally, ask around. Just because you do not live in a certain community or attend a specific church or temple does not mean you cannot join the trip. Of course, be careful. Ask questions, check references and do your homework before handing over money to anyone.
