My mission through Senior Helpers is to ensure a better quality of life for
our elderly clients and their families, by providing dependable and
affordable care. Senior Helpers specializes in selecting professional
caregivers to come into the home of our seniors to assist with light
housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation and companionship. We also provide
personal care such as bathing and dressing and walking assistance. All of
our caregivers are employees of the company and go through rigorous
screening such as criminal background checks and personal and employment
reference checks. Our caregivers are fully insured and bonded and work under
the supervision of our staff nurse.
As a social worker, I am committed to assist the families of seniors who
struggle with complex responsibilities while caring for a family member. I
guide families through the caregiving journey including navigating
transitions of care, emotional struggles and financing.
Caregiving is not just about activities of daily living; it is also about
connecting with our clients and filling the day with meaningful activities.
At Senior Helpers, our caregivers are specially trained in Alzheimer's and
dementia care, with extra emphasis on incorporating activities into the day.
Our Senior Gems program makes understanding the activity needs of clients at
various stages of dementia easy to understand and implement.
Through the organization of Therapy Dogs Incorporated, my greyhound dog,
Dean Martin and I completed the requirements and have been recorded as a Pet
Therapy Team. Animal companionship can make a big difference for many
clients. Together we travel to different nursing homes and home bound
seniors to share smiles and joy.
Senior Helpers has taken a bold step by telling the world that age does not erase hopes and dreams. And by implementing the Virtual Dementia Tour companywide, Senior Helpers has further demonstrated its commitment to those it serves. Senior Helpers is proud to support Second Wind Dreams® on this mission by encouraging donations, raising awareness, and sensitizing the world to dementia as a corporate partner.
What is the Virtual Dementia Tour?
Learning to create a positive environment for those with dementia can only come from attempting to walk in their shoes. Created by P.K. Beville, a specialist in geriatrics, this valuable, easy to follow experiential tour is designed to instill hope in professional and family caregivers, providing them with a tool to move from sympathy to empathy and better understand the behaviors and needs of their loved ones and patients.
