Expertly Trained in Parkinson's Disease Care

Created in alliance with the leading experts of Parkinson’s Foundation’s Centers of Excellence network, the Senior Helpers’ Parkinson’s Care Program provides specialized training to our caregivers to ensure the best in Bloomington, Nashville, and Bedford disability care. The first of its kind in the in home senior care industry, this program was created to provide expert training and education to our caregivers so that they have the tools they need to create individualized care plans for people living with Parkinson’s disease.

Since Parkinson’s is a progressive condition, the care needs of your loved one will change as the disease progresses. In the beginning, you may need only limited assistance, such as help running errands, but that need may grow to include requiring help with activities of daily living and personal care. Since every person’s care needs are different, Senior Helpers works closely with each of our clients to tailor a care plan especially for their individual needs. These customized plans fall under the scope of our Bloomington, Nashville, and Bedford Parkinson’s support services.

Senior Helpers caregivers are educated and trained on:

  • How Parkinson’s disease advances and changes
  • Medication timing/management and reminders
  • Light exercise to maintain balance, mobility, and strength
  • Diet and nutrition
  • Home safety and fall prevention
  • How to notice changes in posture and facial expression and provide comfortable adjustments to maintain coordination and balance
  • Techniques and strategies to identify and manage the motor (mobility/movement) and non-motor (cognitive/behavioral) symptoms of Parkinson’s
