Alzheimer's & Dementia Care

The most common form of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease, a progressive and degenerative brain disease. Dementia is not a specified disease; it’s a broad term used in describing the symptoms of serious cognitive impairment and memory loss that interfere with one’s daily activities. Senior Helpers provides Bloomington, Nashville, and Bedford Alzheimer’s care along with other dementia support services.

When your loved one suffers from Alzheimer’s or dementia, caring for them can have a significant impact on your own emotional and physical well-being. Many families need assistance and support from home care professionals like Senior Helpers, due to the progressive nature of dementia and Alzheimer’s. You can trust us to provide the care needed to make your life and that of your loved one easier and more enjoyable. Senior Helpers is a leading expert in Bloomington, Nashville, and Bedford Alzheimer’s care and dementia support services.

As your loved one’s needs change, we work closely with you to develop a flexible and personalized home care plan. Our caregivers are highly trained and experienced in individual care and support, and we will carefully oversee everything from daily activities to medication regimens. We focus on creating a positive environment, with activities that focus on what your loved one can still do, rather than the things they can no longer do. This is achieved through our Senior Gems® program.

The strategies, techniques, and approach with the Senior Gems® program is based on the Gems™, created and developed by Teepa Snow, Positive Approach, LLC.

The Gems classification system allows trained Senior Helpers caregivers to:

  • Understand what a person can still do based on a gem level.
  • Identify the characteristics of different stages of dementia.
  • Create the best plan for caring for the individual long term.
  • Use specific strategies based on gem level to care for our seniors.
