A presentation about the Senior Gems® program, will be held on July 19th, at 5:30 p.m., at Belmont Village, 500 McHenry Rd., in Buffalo Grove. This program sponsored by Senior Helpers of Northbrook, will focus on how the home care company trains their caregivers to have a better understanding of dementia.
The second presentation is on October 16th, at 11:15 a.m., at the Northbrook YMCA at 2705 Techny Road, with a focus on Parkinson’s Disease. Senior Helpers is the only home care company with a Parkinson’s training program for their caregivers.
If a caregiver is going to care for your loved one, it’s important to know that the person is trained to work with people with Alzheimer’s, other types of dementia and Parkinson’s Disease.
Senior Helpers carefully trains its caregivers to better understand dementia so they can take better care of their clients. Although most people think of their loved ones having a form of dementia and needing care, there is a need for caregivers to be trained for Parkinson’s care as well.
“Senior Helpers is the only home care company with a Parkinson’s training program for our caregivers” Director of Operations Robert Bicanic, at the Northbrook-based Senior Helpers serving the north and northwest suburbs to the Wisconsin border.
Both presentations will be presented by Bob Tucker, a qualified dementia care provider (QDCP) and a consultant at the Northbrook-based Senior Helpers office.
In the first program, Tucker will focus on the Senior Helpers Gems® program to explain how caregivers are trained to follow the recommendations of Teepa Snow, an Alzheimer’s expert, who helped create the program.
In the United States, Parkinson’s is becoming diagnosed more frequently. At least 500,000 people have the disease with 50,000 new cases each year.
It is important that caregivers are educated in knowing how to work with these individuals.
