Ways to Give Back to the Savannah Community This Thanksgiving Season

Thanksgiving is a time to gather with family and friends and give thanks. It is during the holiday season, that we are often reminded of how important it is to give back. Below are three simple ways you can give back to the Savannah community this Thanksgiving season.

  1. Donate to a food pantry

1 in 5 people in Savannah are food insecure and do not know where their next meal is coming from. Consider donating your time or resources to America’s Second Harvest of Coastal GA, a local food pantry dedicated to providing nutritious meals to local children, seniors and families in need. They offer several easy ways to give back to the Savannah community including in person volunteering, donating food items or gifting a small amount of money through their websites.

  1. Donate clothing

The winter season is a vulnerable time for those who are homeless or cannot afford their gas and electric bill. Spend some time cleaning out your closet and donate your old winter clothing to Goodwill of Southeast Georgia. Goodwill of Southeast Georgia is a non-profit organization that helps empower individuals to achieve independence and build a sustainable future. Click here to learn more!

  1. Donate supplies to an animal shelter

Lastly, consider donating supplies to the Humane Society of Greater Savannah, a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter that is dedicated to giving neglected animals a second chance at life through adoption.
