After the Holidays with Senior Parents: What did you notice?

After the holidays, what did you see?

As we start a new year, let us reflect on what we saw during the holidays.  If you came to visit your elderly parent, what did you notice that’s different?

Did their car have a ding somewhere that wasn’t there the last time you visited?  Was their refrigerator loaded with spoiled foods or tons of take out food containers or the pantry have outdated canned goods? Did they wear the same clothes several days in a row and you didn’t notice them taking a shower? Have they lost weight?  Were they confused about events or didn’t want to participate in current festivities? Did you have to que them to take their medications?

Well, if you noticed anything different between your last couple of visits, we need to talk.  Your parent was on their very best behavior while you were visiting because they don’t want to have you worry, but you should because if you answered yes to any of these questions, they are signs of needing help.

If you love your parent and you want to see them next holiday, call me. I meet with your parents (and you also) for a free assessment. Then, we come up with a care plan made specifically for each person.  We are here to help.
