This month, we want to focus on celebrating our nation’s heroes – veterans. Do you have a special veteran in your life? When was the last time you asked them about their experience in the service or gave them a little gift to show your appreciation?
Take a look at these easy, yet meaningful, ways to show a veteran you care:
A simple “Thank You”– Sometimes a simple thank you can make all the difference in the world. Next time you see a veteran, make sure to thank them for their service. It takes two seconds, but it can provide incredible happiness.
Volunteer – You can volunteer your time to show your gratitude. Wounded Warriors and Veterans Crisis Support are just two groups that are looking for volunteers.
Listen – Sometimes just listening to a veteran talk about their past is the best gift of all. You will also find they have some of the most interesting stories to tell!
Senior Helpers takes great pride is doing what we can to assist our veterans. We are very grateful for all they have done for our communities and the service they provided to us as citizens of this country.
We make sure to honor our veterans every chance we get. This year for Veterans Day we will be presenting our clients who have served this country with a Certificate of Appreciation, which will be presented to them by their caregiver.
Senior Helpers also assists the veterans we provide care to with applying for the VA benefit of Aid and Attendance, which grants them extra money each month they can use to pay for home care. We have encouraged our caregivers to do special things with their veteran clients like taking them to a local Veteran’s Day Parade.
