September marks the next edition of Charleston Restaurant Week , from September 5 - September 16. This 12-day celebration features discounted pre-fixe menus from restaurants on Daniel Island, Downtown Charleston, Mount Pleasant, West Ashley, James Island, Sullivan’s Island, the Isle of Palms, John’s Island, Kiawah Island, Folly Beach, North Charleston, and even Summerville. While the Lowcountry is filled with amazing restaurants and award-winning cuisine, it isn’t always the healthiest place to indulge.

Here are 10 restaurants that serve heart and mind-healthy meals in the Lowcountry.

If eating out isn’t something you want to do, Charleston has several health-foods stores like Whole Foods in Mount Pleasant (with a second location now open in West Ashley), Earthfare located on James Island, and Trader Joe’s in Mount Pleasant.
