She focuses on making everyone feel comfortable and happy with their care. She has a great personality that keeps everyone upbeat even in the tough situations that arise. We invite you to call and speak with a professional care consultant. We will answer your questions honestly and directly without any pressure to move forward unless you so choose. Bringing a home care agency into your loved one’s home is a huge decision with multiple implications, and you should approach it cautiously but with a sense of purpose. Find a care partner you can trust. We believe we are that care partner. After discussing your needs by phone, either our Executive Director, Director of Nursing, or Owner will come to the home and discuss your needs with the family. You can then make an informed determination of the care you are seeking.

We also offer after - hours consultation by phone to assist with your research in choosing the most appropriate care provider for in - home senior care services. Simply call us at 515-251-7444 to speak to a care consultant. We are happy to provide this information whenever you need it.

How to Begin the Process

Many families have never had to begin the process for in-home care services. It can be very stressful selecting a home care agency to help your loved ones. In the initial consultation with clients and their families, there will probably be many questions you will not know to ask. We strive to help make the entire process simple and stress-free, and calling our local office at 515-251-7444 is the first step. The sooner you reach out to us, the better you will feel by having your questions answered. You will also have less anxiety after receiving advice and recommendations from our experienced staff.

A Client Services team member will discuss and review your loved one’s specific needs, and explain a typical day with the in - home care services that are the best match for the current situation. We will properly outline and summarize the cost of care, and then set up a convenient time to meet with you and your loved one – typically at the location care is needed. This complimentary in - home assessment is part of the normal process, and is designed to introduce your loved one to our services and describe our mission and our culture. We meet many individuals that are naturally very private and resistant to care. This first meeting assists in creating comfort, and starts the process in gaining their trust and confidence, as well as yours. From here we set up a care plan that addresses their needs, and a schedule that is affordable and practical. There are no contracts to commit to. Our Service Agreement is highly flexible to meet the needs of each individual client. We look forward to hearing how we can help your family’s specific needs.

Learning Opportunities

Senior Helpers is pleased to offer monthly training for clients, caregivers, family members and community partners. You do not have to be a family member of a current client to attend. The sessions are open to anyone who wants to know more. This program will offer insight into the best possible care through all stages of Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's and dementia.

Senior Gems® Alzheimer's & Dementia Training

Senior Helpers is a leader in the in-home care industry when it comes to Alzheimer's and dementia care with the program Senior Gems®. Developed by nationally renowned dementia expert Teepa Snow, the focus of Senior Gems® is on what people with dementia can do, instead of what they cannot do. Teepa's gems classification system (based on the Allen Cognitive Disability Theory) allows us to understand which stage of dementia the person is experiencing so the best service plan can be created for that individual.

Balancing Act® Parkinson's Training

Senior Helpers has developed a new Parkinson's Care program called Balancing Act®. In collaboration with staff at Johns Hopkins Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center, Senior Helpers has designed a program that discusses symptoms of Parkinson's disease and offers strategies and techniques for managing Parkinson's. Senior Helpers has partnered with the Michael J. Fox Foundation to advance Parkinson's education

Please call our office if interested in either GEMS or Parkinson's training. If you would like to bring one of these training programs to your organization or group, please call our office to set that up. We can tailor the program to the time and dates you have available. We hope to see you soon!
