Meet the Senior Helpers South Coast office

More than 90% of seniors want to age in their own home with dignity but getting the right type of care can seem daunting.  At Senior Helpers South Coast we believe getting the best care for your loved ones should not be complicated. Brett and Hiten invested in the Senior Helpers South Coast office because of their passion for helping others and their interest in the growing need for in-home care services.  Senior Helpers South Coast is committed to delivering the best possible in-home care to seniors in the Orange County Coastal community.

We take the opportunity to provide in-home care seriously and make it a priority to provide the highest level of client service possible.  Over the past 10+ years we have built an exceptional team of care professionals, each committed to remaining at the forefront of the in-home care industry through our proprietary ongoing training and education programs.

Two hands holding each other.

Our History

Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 by Tony Bonacuse with the help of Peter Ross after their firsthand experience in caring for their respective family members. Tony and Peter identified a need that was not being filled properly by the other companies.  They realized that most seniors would prefer to age in their own home rather than move into an unfamiliar institution.  Unfortunately, the options available to most seniors were very limited.  Most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and affordable in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.

The first office opened in Baltimore, and quickly developed a reputation for delivering excellent in-home senior care with their well-trained staff of professional caregivers. Based on the success of the Baltimore location, the company began to expand.  Over the past 13 years, the Senior Helpers family has grown to include a network of more than 300 locally owned and operated franchises across the United States.

Senior Helpers South Coast was proud to join the system in 2008.  Like every other owner, we too are fully-committed to the original goal of providing dependable and affordable in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community.

Brett and Hiten were both drawn to this business as they were their senior family’s caregivers and vowed to help change the process for which families and seniors find and hire capable and trustworthy care for their loved ones.

Our team has grown to 4 office team members, and 45+ caregivers. We have been lucky to serve hundreds of seniors in our community over the years, and we are committed to continuing to provide uncompromising levels of care to all our families.

Our process

The first step in the process is a complimentary, initial in-home care assessment with a Senior Helpers consultant.  This assessment can help you understand the true needs of your loved one, and your options. Together we can discuss their needs, our senior care services and determine what’s best for your entire family.

We will cover:

  • Your family's specific goals
  • Your loved one's daily plan design and schedule
  • Pricing and payment methods
  •  Implementation process
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up plan

Meet the South Coast Team

Brett Skinner

Brett Skinner

Brett has been a resident of Orange County for over 25 years. He resides in Brea with his wife and 2 daughters ages 16 and 7. Brett has been involved in businesses for over 30 years. After graduating from Washington State University, Brett gained experience in restaurant and golf course management. Brett wanted to go into business on his own. Senior Care has been near and dear to his heart because he was the primary caregiver for his mother for years, and he saw the lack of support and information for the public when it came to taking care of our senior loved ones. Brett wanted to be involved in something where he could give guidance to people when choosing how to care for their loved ones. This is the reason he decided to become a Senior Helpers owner.

Brett is the brains behind Senior Helpers. Our businesses core values are a mirror reflection of his views on how our loved ones should be cared for. Brett has developed and implemented systems and trainings for all staff members (not just the caregivers) at Senior Helpers. Brett truly believes that our caregivers are better equipped with trainings and tools which help them care for our clients properly and more efficiently. From trainings for specific client’s conditions, to having a mobile app for the caregivers which they can log live information such as clients condition change, or specific meals requirements. Brett’s goal is to improve the quality of life of all our clients. You will often hear him say, that “we are not here to just take care of you or to help you out, we are here to improve your quality of life on a daily basis”.

In his spare time, Brett enjoys playing golf and watching sports, that is if he is not busy watching his 2 daughters who dance competitively.

Hiten Adhvaryu

Hiten Adhvaryu

Hiten is also a lifelong resident of Orange County and resides in Brea with his wife and 2 daughters, ages 9 and 4. After graduating from Cal State Fullerton, Hiten has been involved in businesses for more than 15 years. Hiten has built a successful automotive business based on philosophy of treating each client as he would like to be treated and treating each employee as part of his own family.

Hiten grew up in a home where he saw his mother care for his Grandma and Grandpa and witnessing the challenges his mother had to go through while caring for his aging grandparents. When the opportunity to get involved in a business which is in such need came along, Hiten jumped on the opportunity.

In his spare time, Hiten also enjoys golfing and watching his favorite teams (Go Lakers & Go Steelers) play.

Lucy Huerta

Lucy Huerta

Office/Caregiver Manager

If Brett is the brains behind Senior Helpers, Lucy is the muscle behind it. Lucy is the Office/Caregiver manager and is responsible for the services we provide. She has over 30 years’ experience working for Sears starting from sales person and being the store General Manager.

Having experience in hiring the right people, and being bilingual, she hires the best of the best Caregivers for Senior Helpers.

Lucy is also a long-time resident of Orange County and resides in Yorba Linda. She is also a graduate of Cal State Fullerton. When Lucy is not busy making sure that all of our clients are getting the services they need, she enjoys being part of the Yorba Linda Women’s club, and watching the Los Angeles Chargers and spending time with her adult son.
