Multiple Sclerosis - Support and Care with Senior Helpers

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic nervous system disease with unpredictable symptoms that come and go. MS is considered to be an immune-mediated disease because the exact target that the immune cells are caused to attack remains unknown according to the National MS Society. Through this immune-mediated process, there is an abnormal response or attack of the body’s immune system directed at healthy tissue in the Central Nervous System (CNS).

There are four different types of MS that have been identified: clinically isolated syndrome (CIS), relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS), primary progressive MS (PPMS), and secondary progressive MS (SPMS).

Symptoms of MS include:

  • Blurred vision

  • Loss of balance

  • Poor coordination

  • Paralysis

  • Blindness

If you are caregiving for a loved one with MS, you already know it is an emotional and physical challenge. You need to find a healthy balance in your life to avoid caregiver burnout. Even if your loved one does not develop such severe disability right away it is their best interest to plan for the future. At Senior Helpers, our caregivers are not only professionally trained to be able to provide your loved one with the care they need - we consider a variety of factors to find the best caregiver for your loved one; personality, experience, interests, skills, etc. With the help of Senior Helpers you can relax knowing that your loved one is in good hands.
