Heart Disease - Support and Care with Senior Helpers

For seniors, one of the most common types of heart conditions they experience is congestive heart failure (CHF). This is when the heart can’t pump out enough blood to meet the needs of their body. Meanwhile, other forms of heart disease can eventually lead to CHF.

Arteriosclerosis, also known as the “hardening of the arteries” occurs when the interior walls of an artery become thicker and less elastic. This thickening reduces the space available for the blood to flow. As the plaque grows initially, there may not be very many symptoms from arteriosclerosis. However, the more narrow the space within the artery gets, can in certain cases block it entirely leading to heart attacks.

For our clients with heart disease, our services can assist with creating a heart-healthy diet as well as helping your loved one complete their special physician-prescribed special exercises for heart clients. We know that managing heart disease isn’t easy, and not everyone can do it on their own. Even with the help of family and friends, you can’t always be with your loved one to help them manage their diagnosis. So the question is when is it time to get extra assistance when dealing with the adjustment to heart disease? If your loved one physically is no longer capable of doing their day to day tasks, and even if they are not able to adjust to the diet and lifestyle changes by themselves, it is time to consider bringing in some extra help. At Senior Helpers our professionally trained caregivers can provide our heart clients with:

  • Meal preparation to maintain a heart-healthy diet

  • Transportation to and from appointments

  • Activities of daily living (bathing, continence, dressing, eating, ambulation, transferring, and toileting)

  • Ensuring cooperation with dietary requirements

  • Ensuring cooperation with prescribed exercise activities

At Senior Helpers we believe that a healthy heart equals a happy heart. That is why we strive to ensure a better quality of life for you and your aging loved one.
