I hope you had a nice weekend whether you celebrated Passover, Easter or just had time to spend with your friends or family.

My yard is now almost free of snow and baseball is on TV! To me, these are the leading indicators that Spring is here. I know I am always in a much better mood when the weather is nice. Spending time outdoors (especially on a beautiful day) can actually improve your health both mentally and physically!

In fact, here are just a few ways the great outdoors benefit our health:

  • Vitamin D – the most obvious benefit is more Vitamin D supplied from the sun. Getting enough sunlight (not too much!) can improve your teeth, bones, and immune system! Getting enough sunlight has also been linked with the prevention of diabetes, auto-­? immune disorders, multiple sclerosis, and heart disease.
  • Immune system – Speaking of your immune system…spending time outdoors can actually increase virus-­?fighting white blood cells to improve your immune  system!
  • Improved sleep – Research shows that spending too much time in artificial (indoor) lighting can actually cause poor sleep patterns. Spending time outdoors can actually kick your body into a better sleep routine!
