Thanking Our Caregivers and Clients and Caring Home Care
Thanksgiving is here and it’s time to think about the important people in our lives. If a family member provides the bulk of the caretaking for a senior loved one, be sure to give them a break during the Thanksgiving holiday so that they can rest and rejuvenate. As a family caregiver, they provide a lot of support, love, and sometimes medical care to one in need. This role can be rewarding while also very draining, so it is very important to take that time to recharge. It’s the perfect time of year to make an effort to show those who do so much for our loved ones that we appreciate them. The caregivers who go the extra mile for an elderly loved one to make sure their lives are easier deserve acknowledgement for all that they do.
When it comes to showing a family caregiver that they are appreciated, sometimes all it takes is a phone call to check in on them. Be sure they are taking time to take care of themselves. Make sure that they know you are there to offer a listening ear whenever they need to share concerns or just to vent. Every once in a while, give them a call and let them know that they have one less task to worry about that day, then deliver dinner. After is dinner is delivered, offer to give them a hug too, while you’re at it.
Whenever there’s a free block of time, be sure to stop in to say hi, even for a quick visit. Offer to drop off a movie or library book rental. See if there are any groceries that can be picked up on the way. If distance makes stopping by for a visit difficult, perhaps a card with a note of appreciation can be dropped in the mail. A message of thanks delivered alongside magazones and bills can go a long way to boost a family caregiver’s overall mood and wellbeing.
At Senior Helpers of Big Lake, we want our clients to know how much we appreciate them. We are grateful to be able to provide our clients with the peace of mind that their loved ones are cared for by our highly trained caregivers.
