New Years Resolutions for Seniors and In Home Help for Seniors
The New Year has officially begun and it’s time to create better habits and to find ways to make our lives better. There are many ways that a new perspective and fresh positive thinking for the New Year can benefit our lives. This is the time to create new goals and keep pushing for enriching life experiences.
Some New Years Resolutions include spending more time with family and friends. This could just mean having a weekly meal with a loved one. An elderly loved one might not receive as many regular visitors as they would like and a weekly meal together might be just what they need to feel cherished. The act of dining together and sharing conversation is very good for boosting mood and overall wellbeing.
This New Year, make it a resolution to go on more nature walks. Get out several times a week with a neighbor or a friend. If weather is not favorable, take the walk indoors to a local gym or shopping mall. Staying active is not only good for the body, but also the mind as well.
Another New Years Resolution for Seniors is to eat better and choose leaner and moderately processed foods. The more fruits and vegetables incorporated into a daily diet, the better. Choose to drink more water on a daily basis. Oftentimes, water intake is not at the level it needs to be to properly care for our bodies. If our bodies are fully hydrated, we will feel refreshed through our skin and how we feel overall.
Turn off the television and limit social media. Challenge a friend to a board game or attend a local trivial night. Make this the year to do something new and exciting. Whether it be taking a new class and learning something new, or going on a vacation to a different location. Join a book club and use this as an excuse to socialize on a weekly basis. Keeping life interesting and fresh will keep you feeling renewed and vibrant.
